...The goal of this project is to use relatively simple hardware like an Arduino Nano and the Microchip MCP23S17 port expander as an extensible bit banger. Ideally, all hardware should be leaded and breadboard friendly for easy project prototyping. The ELEGOO Nano is used as an USB RS232 to SPI controller to control the port expander. This project aims to provide a method for listening on a serial port and decode incoming messages from a Galaxy security control panel. The messages are transmitted using the SIA DC-03-1990.01 (R2000.11) protocol. The decoded messages are stored in a database (MySQL) or forwarded by email using ssmtp. Besides just listening for messages openGalaxy can also be used to arm/disarm the panel and much more... ...But the supplied VB6 program was very crappy, _really_ unusable, even on old XP machines. So I did mine, able to run under windows and linux. All the fun was to reverse the (binary) RS232 protocol. Our is a YC-727D with 2 thermocouple inputs, but the protocol is the same for 1, 2, 3 or 4 inputs models (YC-717, YC-727, YC-737, YC-747). Bytes orders needs to be checked for 3th and 4nd channels tough. -
