    Faraday

    Faraday

Simple, but flexible HTTP client library, with support for backends

Faraday is an HTTP client library abstraction layer that provides a common interface over many adapters (such as Net::HTTP) and embraces the concept of Rack middleware when processing the request/response cycle. You probably don't want to use Faraday directly in your project, as it will lack an actual client library to perform requests. Instead, you probably want to have a look at Awesome Faraday for a list of available adapters. The best starting point is the Faraday Website, with its introduction and explanation. This library aims to support and is tested against the currently officially supported Ruby implementations. This means that, even without a major release, we could add or drop support for Ruby versions, following their EOL. Currently that means we support Ruby 2.6+. You can also install the faraday_middleware extension gem to access a collection of useful Faraday middleware.

    CocoaPods

    CocoaPods

    The Cocoa Dependency Manager

CocoaPods is a dependency manager for Swift and Objective-C Cocoa projects. It has over 82 thousand libraries and is used in over 3 million apps. CocoaPods can help you scale your projects elegantly. CocoaPods is built with Ruby and is installable with the default Ruby available on macOS. We recommend you use the default ruby. Using the default Ruby install can require you to use sudo when installing gems. Further installation instructions are in the guides. CocoaPods manages library dependencies for your Xcode projects. The dependencies for your projects are specified in a single text file called a Podfile. CocoaPods will resolve dependencies between libraries, fetch the resulting source code, then link it together in an Xcode workspace to build your project. Ultimately the goal is to improve discoverability of, and engagement in, third party open-source libraries by creating a more centralised ecosystem.

    Mechanize

    Mechanize

Mechanize is a ruby library that makes automated web interaction easy

The Mechanize library is used for automating interaction with websites. Mechanize automatically stores and sends cookies, follows redirects, and can follow links and submit forms. Form fields can be populated and submitted. Mechanize also keeps track of the sites that you have visited as a history. This library was heavily influenced by its namesake in the Perl world. Mechanize#transact runs the given block and then resets the page history. I.e. after the block has been executed, you're back at the original page; no need to count how many times to call the back method at the end of a loop (while accounting for possible exceptions).

    Jekyll Readme Index

    Jekyll Readme Index

A Jekyll plugin to render a project's README as the site's index

A Jekyll plugin to render a project's README as the site's index. Let's say you have a GitHub repository with a README.md file, that you'd like to use as the index (main page) for a GitHub Pages site. You could rename the file to index.md, but then it wouldn't render on GitHub.com. You could add YAML front matter with permalink: / to the README, but why force a human to do what Jekyll can automate? If you have a readme file, and your site doesn't otherwise have an index file, this plugin instructs Jekyll to use the readme as the site's index. That's it, no more, no less.

    Bourbon

    Bourbon

    A lightweight sass tool set

Bourbon is a library of Sass mixins and functions that are designed to make you a more efficient style sheet author. It’s not recommended that you modify Bourbon’s files directly as it will make updating to future versions difficult, by overwriting your custom changes or causing merge conflicts. Import Bourbon at the beginning of application.scss. Any project styles that utilize Bourbon’s features must be imported after Bourbon. Bourbon supports Internet Explorer 11+ and the latest versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. Bourbon is maintained by the thoughtbot design team. factory_bot

    factory_bot

A library for setting up Ruby objects as test data

factory_bot is a fixtures replacement with a straightforward definition syntax, support for multiple build strategies (saved instances, unsaved instances, attribute hashes, and stubbed objects), and support for multiple factories for the same class (user, admin_user, and so on), including factory inheritance. factory_bot provides a framework and DSL for defining and using factories - less error-prone, more explicit, and all-around easier to work with than fixtures. Each factory has a name and a set of attributes. The name is used to guess the class of the object by default. It is recommended that you have one factory for each class that provides the simplest set of attributes necessary to create an instance of that class. If you're creating ActiveRecord objects, that means that you should only provide attributes that are required through validations and that do not have defaults. Other factories can be created through inheritance to cover common scenarios for each class.

    Rein

    Rein

Database constraints made easy for ActiveRecord

Data integrity is a good thing. Constraining the values allowed by your application at the database level, rather than at the application level, is a more robust way of ensuring your data stays sane. Unfortunately, ActiveRecord doesn't encourage (or even allow) you to use database integrity without resorting to hand-crafted SQL. Rein (pronounced "rain") adds a handful of methods to your ActiveRecord migrations so that you can easily tame the data in your database. All methods in the DSL are automatically reversible, so you can take advantage of reversible Rails migrations.

    vcr

    vcr

Record your test suite's HTTP interactions and replay them

Record your test suite's HTTP interactions and replay them during future test runs for fast, deterministic, accurate tests. We're looking for more maintainers. If you'd like to help maintain a well-used gem please spend some time reviewing pull requests, issues, or participating in discussions. VCR will replay the response from iana.org when the HTTP request is made. This test is now fast (no real HTTP requests are made anymore), deterministic (the test will continue to pass, even if you are offline, or iana.org goes down for maintenance) and accurate (the response will contain the same headers and body you get from a real request). You can use a different cassette library directory (e.g., "test/vcr_cassettes"). The recorded requests and responses are stored on disk in a serialization format of your choice (currently YAML and JSON are built in, and you can easily implement your own custom serializer) and can easily be inspected and edited.

    API Umbrella

    Open source API management platform

API Umbrella is an open source API management platform for exposing web service APIs. The basic goal of API Umbrella is to make life easier for both API creators and API consumers. APIs can assume the boring stuff (access control, rate limiting, analytics, etc.) is already taken care if the API is being accessed, so common functionality doesn't need to be implemented in the API code. API Umbrella acts as a layer above your APIs, so your API code doesn't need to be modified to take advantage of the features provided.

    Active Admin

    Active Admin

The administration framework for Ruby on Rails applications

Active Admin is a Ruby on Rails plugin for generating administration style interfaces. It abstracts common business application patterns to make it simple for developers to implement beautiful and elegant interfaces with very little effort. Customizable global navigation allows you to create usable admin interfaces for your business. Use the bundled Devise configuration or implement your own authorization using the provided hooks. Use scopes to create sections of mutually exclusive resources for quick navigation and reporting. Add buttons, links or other content in the “Action Items” section on each screen. Index screens are available in many styles. The default, shown here, is a table view, but Active Admin also supports Grids, Blocks and a Blog view. Allow users to filter resources by searching strings, text fields, dates, and numeric values. Customize the sidebar sections with a simple DSL built in to Active Admin.

    Concurrent Ruby

    Concurrent Ruby

Modern concurrency tools including agents, futures, promises, etc.

Modern concurrency tools including agents, futures, promises, thread pools, supervisors, and more. Inspired by Erlang, Clojure, Scala, Go, Java, JavaScript, and classic concurrency patterns. Concurrent Ruby is an 'unopinionated' toolbox that provides useful utilities without debating which is better or why. It remains free of external gem dependencies. It stays true to the spirit of the languages providing inspiration, but implements in a way that makes sense for Ruby. Keeps the semantics as idiomatic Ruby as possible, supports features that make sense in Ruby. Excludes features that don't make sense in Ruby. It is small, lean, and loosely coupled, thread-safety, and with backward compatibility. Concurrent Ruby makes one of the strongest thread safety guarantees of any Ruby concurrency library, providing consistent behavior and guarantees on all four of the main Ruby interpreters (MRI/CRuby, JRuby, Rubinius, TruffleRuby).

    Errbit

    Errbit

The open source error catcher that's Airbrake API compliant

Errbit is a tool for collecting and managing errors from other applications. It is Airbrake API compliant, so if you are already using Airbrake, you can just point the airbrake gem to your Errbit server. The way Errbit arranges notices into error groups is configurable. By default, Errbit uses the notice's error class, error message, complete backtrace, component (or controller), action and environment name to generate a unique fingerprint for every notice. Notices with identical fingerprints appear in the UI as different occurences of the same error and notices with differing fingerprints are displayed as separate errors. Following the recommendation of 12factor.net, Errbit takes all of its configuration from environment variables. You can use dotenv, which is included in the Gemfile, to fill in any values that you can't or won't supply through the environment.
