base64 RFC1113 Vanilla ANSI-C Code for a portable stand-alone file encode/decode utility. In 2001, I asked people to 'Help me break it!' Since then, 10+years later, the code remains unbroken and is in wide production use world-wide. It has been ported to all major architectures and been used as a template for ports to different computer and human languages. This is very mature and stable code. Although this comes from a project that was constrained by export controls and is used in secure systems, it is not security code per-se. I have therefore altered the 'Export Controls' category.

Efficient UDP unicast, UDP multicast, and IPC message transport
Efficient reliable UDP unicast, UDP multicast, and IPC message transport. Java and C++ clients are available in this repository, and a .NET client is available from a 3rd party. All three clients can exchange messages across machines, or on the same machine via IPC, very efficiently. Message streams can be recorded by the Archive module to persistent storage for later, or real-time, replay. Aeron Cluster provides support for fault-tolerant services as replicated state machines based on the Raft consensus algorithm. Performance is the key focus. A design goal for Aeron is to be the highest throughput with the lowest and most predictable latency of any messaging system. Aeron integrates with Simple Binary Encoding (SBE) for the best possible message encoding and decoding performance. Many of the data structures used in the creation of Aeron have been factored out to the Agrona project. -

Use Liftbridge as a simpler and lighter alternative to systems like Kafka and Pulsar or to add streaming semantics to an existing NATS deployment. Stream replication provides high availability and durability of messages. Clustering and partitioning provide horizontal scalability for streams and their consumers. No heavy or unwieldy dependencies like ZooKeeper or the JVM. Liftbridge is a single static binary roughly 16MB in size. It has a simple gRPC-based API which makes it quick to implement client libraries. Create streams that match wildcard topics, such as stock.nyse. or stock.nasdaq. in addition to topic literals like stock.nasdaq.msft. Messages can have a key set on them for key-value semantics and other arbitrary headers, making Liftbridge a great choice for transaction write-ahead logs. -

On macOS, if you want an easy install, you can install Homebrew and initialize it with it. If not running macOS, or you don't like Homebrew, you can use pip. On Ubuntu, pip will install to the current user's home directory rather than system-wide. Because of this, when installing pip on Ubuntu you will need to run pip install with the --system flag as well (on other platforms this is not needed). By only tracking pure configuration files, it keeps the crap out of your freshly new installed workstation (no cache, temporary and locally specific files are transfered). Mackup makes setting up the environment easy and simple, saving time for your family, great ideas, and all the cool stuff you like. -
