Matthew is from Memphis, TN. He is heavily influenced by bands from the 90's such as Nirvana, Alice in Chains and Foo Fighters. He brings this sound into his own music and adds in his own flavor. Matthew learned the guitar at a young age and began expanding into other instruments after that. He studied his father's music collection and learned from Led Zeppelin, Van Halen, Guns N Roses and Stevie Ray Vaughn. He describes the songs on his first self titled album as the things he really needed to get off his chest. The songs are deep personal issues he's held onto for a long time before the album was released, most of which were written while literally living in a car. Matthew really started getting into the music scene after joining the local Memphis band Pengea as lead guitarist. Only then did he seriously consider recording his own material.
