Cyri is an advocate for mental health and emotional intelligence and believes by expressing emotion within music it allows him to grow as a person and he wants that to be expressed when it comes across a listener’s ears. Throughout his career Cyri has mentored over 12 different artists, with teachings ranging from learning the basics of rhyme schemes, to advanced delivery techniques, and how to interpret emotion in their own life. He continues to strive to teach and inspire all around him through his work and his actions. Cyri started his music career at 13 years old, making mixes on Virtual DJ made a mixtape selling it to his fellow middle schoolers. After efforts to show his lyrics and beats to his friends, and family it was always met with resistance, no one showed any interest and brushed him away, but that never made him stray away from it, in fact taking it as inspiration to make music that doesn’t let you go until the song is finished. His friend had a friend who was into beats, who lent him a copy of FL Studio 9, and that’s when his start in beat-making began. In the fall of 2013, two different friend groups of Cyri’s both wanted to make music, and that’s when he began to learn how to record and mix. Around this time, he started to find his name Cyri. Cyri originally went by Cyringe, which was his playstation handle, he adopted the name and produced under the moniker DJ Cyringe. Everyday after school, he would spend hours making beats if he wasn’t with his friends. Within this period, he made more than 358 beats inspired by DJ Premier, and Pro Era, and recorded 46 songs by his friends but never of his own. His first song came after he grew away from his friends and began to branch off into his own work. He began working with his frequent collaborator Sillz and began the Innovators Music Group, a trio consisting of Sillz, Bionic and himself. His most notable achievements within this group were releasing a beattape (Antibiotics) and his first mixtape under Cyri(Reintroduction), releasing a beat on Youtube that garnered 130,000+ views, as well as, opening up for Mobb Deep. Around this time, he had met DJ Rukiz who offered him a job as an audio engineer at his notable downtown Providence recording studio/radio station, MusicFeen Studios/The Juice 89.9. He worked there for 3 years and during this time his music group disbanded because of conflicting interests. He continued working with Sillz, and veered his direction away from beats, and focused more on writing, rapping, and singing. While working at MusicFeen, he met a long-time collaborator Jynx, and has been working with him for years. Cyri received a grant for his studies in Fine Arts at the University of Rhode Island. He used the grant to fund his research project, DMVGE (March 2017) where he used light and music to transfer emotion into the viewers of the installation, and during that period of time he was working on his first album ‘Paris’ which was released on February 1, 2018. Living in Rhode Island, he never felt the support he felt he needed surrounding him and didn’t feel that his peers didn’t have the same passion as he did. He decided to move to California, sold all he had, and drove to the Golden State alongside his puppy to find other artists who are as passionate about music as he is. Upon arrival, he was homeless, living in his car and working to make ends meet. Sleeping at rest areas and finding spots in residential areas where he could hold up for the night. After three months, he was finally found a place to call his new home in Union City, and is ready now more than ever to focus on his pursuing his career in music and art.
