You wake in a stranger’s bed with blood on your lips and a bullet hole in your ribs. The one that found you says that you belong to them. And they to you. You are the leader of The House of Noctus, the most influential vampire Coven in the northern region. But you have no memory of who you are, or the past life that you led.

Thrown into a world of masked courts, ruthless politics, and velvet seduction, you must unravel who you were, and decide who you'll become.

Fight. Flee. Seduce. Survive.

But above all, remember who you are. Before someone else decides for you.

The Romance Options

Lestat/Lucette

Your lover. Your Monseur. Your betrothed. You find vestiges of the life you once shared with them everywhere you look, but you can't remember the one who'd sooner die for you than see you hurt.

Snow

Your protector. Your shield. Loyal to a fault to you and you alone, Snow follows your orders without question. But are they loyal to you because you lead The House of Noctus, or are their motivations more personal?

Zero/Zara

Your blade. You assassin. They do your bidding in the dark, without question. You've known them for years, but for all intents and purposes, the attractive vapire is still an enigma. Even to you.

Dimitri/Dhalia

Master of the coven of The House of Deveraux, they hold a seat at The Crimson Court. They oppose you- openly- at ever turn. But not because their political interests are opposite your own. Their motivations are much more...personal. They're fixated. Obsessed with you for reasons you can't remember. And they swear they won't let you get away again.

Lux/Lorelei

The House of Noctus' information broker, they trade in secrets and work their machinations behind closed doors. They often work closely with Zero/Zara to further the aim of the coven, but they've always kept their interactions with you professional...until now.

I am really excited for a new vampire game to insert my devious self into!

(2 edits) (+1)

Chapter one is SO good! I love everything about this. The premise, all the love interests, and the writing.. exactly my taste. I can't wait for more! 😍❤️‍🔥

(+1)

thank you for my first journey into interactive fiction. can't believe it's taken me this long! i'm already addicted and can't wait for updates for all of your stories (yes i already read the rest LOL)

(+2)

I just played chapter one and i absolutely loved it!!! Im super excited to see more of it as it is so interesting so far!!!

A Crown of Velvet Thorns, The Last Divine, The House of Noctus, Eirington on the Moor...

I'm going to be honest, this many games suggests you haven't decided what you want to make yet and you're just throwing games at the wall of see what sticks. Either that or you can't focus or remain interested on one thing for long (which doesn't bode well for long-term projects like these).

Good games take time and effort to make. You haven't even finished one and you're already trying to juggle several of them at once... A bit of advice; don't stretch yourself too thin or you're going to burn yourself before you ever finish anything. Quality is more important than quantity.

I think your games have potential, but a newbie dev trying too much is usually a bad sign. Take care.

(+30)(-21)

tf, did the author ask for your advice? no, they didn't.

(19 edits) (+29)(-26)

And did they ask you to speak in their stead? You ain't the dev so whether my comment is worth anything is not for you to decide. The author has a section dedicated to beta-readers where they thank their players for testing their game and providing advice, so yeah, they care.

Also, they don't have to ask for it. This is a gaming website; where people are allowed (and expected) to write their opinions and criticism. This game is still a WIP and game development is contingent on honest feedback, even the kind we sometimes don't want to hear.

...

I've seen several games come and go to know some of the traps many newbie devs fall into; one game is difficult enough, managing several of them at once, as a solo dev, that's just asking for trouble. Let's see how these games fare 3-5 years from now; I will be happy to be proven wrong.

(+33)(-5)

I agree with your statement. I fully look forward to the projects the dev has created and put in this space for us, but four at once is A LOT and they're all VERY different from each other and getting into a creative headspace for each one takes a toll on people. Especially when only ONE person is doing it all!

This is not meant to persuade you to stop brainstorming and worldbuilding and whatever else. These can remain demos while the dev focus on which ever one they enjoy the most. In the end you want to create because YOU (the dev) like it and want to share it.

These stories are really good concepts and I'm a huge fan of "a crown of velvet thorns" myself but I've seen many people create IFs  and then abandon it due to burnout or/and the anger/sadness that has built up due to pressure from the audiences side or the author themselves.

I wish you luck in your writing journey wherever that takes you and if you continue updating your stories I will happily read them.

(+14)(-14)

imagine complaining about free reads, also this isnt criticism because you're complaining about something that hasn't happened yet. And even if you were "critiquing" the game (there's a rating section for that btw), you still need to be polite about it.

(20 edits) (+26)(-14)

I'm simply warning the author that it's a bad idea to commit to so many games at once. Over-ambition and poor management almost always ends in frustration and abandonment. I like these games and I want them to succeed, but I refuse to get emotionally invested into a game that is being sabotaged by poor decision-making. Been burned too times over this.

Free products aren't exempt of opinions and criticism. Criticism can help you grow and learn as a developer, and if you intend on publishing your game down the line you need to strike a balance between your creative vision and something people are interested in playing / buying.

The "polite" culture has become a trap. It has made people afraid of being honest because they don't want to hurt others' feelings, or because they don't deal with the backlash that comes with writing any form of criticism. Imagine putting all your effort into something and failing... because no one told you your product was bad, broken, uninteresting, or going down a bad path, out of fear it would hurt your feelings.

I hate the mentality that only praise is allowed, or that any form of negativity has to be extremely gentle because the dev is "fragile".

Not everyone is going to be well-spoken or polite when they write their feedback, but just because they weren't "eloquent" enough for your taste doesn't mean you should automatically dismiss them. Focus on the meaning of the message, not how it was conveyed.

Hey,

I haven't responded to comments in a while ( I'm very backlogged😅) but I just wanted to chime in here. Thanks for taking the time to play my games and leave feedback.

I want my games to be about the story, the characters, the world, and the romance, and I hope they’re a positive experience for everyone who plays them. As the creator, I want to maintain that space, so I hope this helps give a bit of context about how I work.

Just to touch on a couple things for anyone curious:

1. Writing and game dev are hobbies for me, so I create when I enjoy it, and I share because I hope others will enjoy it too <3 Right now, I'm not trying to make this a career or monetize any of my work. If that ever changes,  I’ll naturally need to narrow my focus. For now, I'm just having fun creating things I love and sharing them online.

2. Yes, I have ADHD, which means my creative process comes in bursts. Even so, I've completed several long-term projects. Sometimes I won’t touch a project for months, and other times I’ll write multiple chapters in a few days. This rhythm allows me to complete long-term projects at my own pace. This is why I bounce between projects, and also why I don’t monetize my work. I don’t run a Patreon, Ko-fi, etc. because I know my work flow tends to be inconsistent and come in bursts.

I understand the concern about scope and burnout, it’s good advice for someone trying to monetize or make this a profession.  I know that my approach isn’t for everyone, and that’s okay. That's just part of the process of sharing something you create with others. Thanks again for checking out my work and sharing your perspective.

(2 edits) (+17)(-14)

Thank you for taking the time to respond to my concerns. I appreciate the honesty and transparency. I wish you the best and hope it works out for you.

(+1)

I get chills reading this i loved it

(+2)

Thank you, I'm so glad you enjoyed the first chapter! <3

(+1)

Okay, my interest is piqued!

I love the idea of being the Head of a Vampire House having amnesia and just trying to make sense of things. I need moree! I want to know moreeee! There's so many delicious plot I can see bubbling out of reach! I want to know more about the Houses, the Coven, yer vampire lore! Ahhh! I'm so excited!

(2 edits) (+2)

I've been working on the lore for each individual house(and the history between The Houses) and it's been so much for to write! Especially for L, D, and Lu ;)

(+1)

Oh. My. Goodness--Those are my faves too especially L and D! ansdklaslk I CANNOT WAIT! So excited!!! ♥

(+1)

it's very fun! i love man who cries easily like lestate and the chemistry between dimitri and player✌🏻

(+1)

Hahaha🤣 Yeah, when it comes to MC, Lestat is definitely very emotional. If you like you romance spicy with a side of possessiveness and sexual tension, Dimitri is your guy lol.

(+1)

when we just woke up and lestate have to go to the meeting it's write his name as "dimitri'"

Ahh I think I found it, thanks for pointing this out! I went back and corrected it, should be fixed in the next update :)

I'm waiting♡

(+2)

Came across this randomly. This is so good, amazing job! Super excited for what comes next!❤️❤️

Thanks for playing THoN, I'm so glad you enjoyed the first chapter!❤️❤️

(+2)

So Chapter 1 ends is where the game currently ends, right? Just making sure I didn't miss the option to free roam and explore more of the game...

(1 edit) (+4)

Yup, that's where Chapter 1 ends currently :) I love this concept though, the option to explore/free roam the city in the first chapter and being able to find hints/easter eggs about each Coven is a great idea! I've been thinking about adding a map of Northwyck outlining the boundaries of each Coven's territory in a coming update, so this would go really well with that!

(+4)

I do hope we will get the free roam giving us chance to settle in the universe, and in the meantime to get some sex content as well even if it is just with mortals to fill out hunger but without killing them or something.

How i download this game??😭

Oh no, is the download not working? You should be able to download it directly from the game page, please let me know if it's not working and I'll troubleshoot it on my end.

(+4)

A vampires dark romance and have the MC as leader in the court? This is the best IF ever!!(*˘︶˘*).。*♡💕 Just what we all needed, so unique and OMFG I can't put in words any longer just- chef kiss😆👌✨

Thank you, I can't tell you how much I appreciate the kind words <3 Recently started delving into the lore behind each Coven and it's been so much fun! I can't wait to start incorporating it into the coming chapters and really delve into the underbelly of  The Crimson Court!

(+3)

THIS WAS FIRE, WE NEED AN UPDATE 🙏🏼

(+1)

Thank you, so glad that you enjoyed The House of Noctus! :)

Promising premise. I'm interested to see where it leads. There are some spelling and grammar errors. The game's description and the opening sentence have misspellings. I wouldn't want that to deter readers from all the good work you've done.

Thanks for the heads up, I thought I'd combed through this thoroughly for spelling errors but I definitely fond a few in this last round of editing. My fault for doing most of my writing on the notes app in my phone 😂

(2 edits) (+1)

This is very good. I found this by accident, tbinking this was a different story (im still confused because I could’ve sworn). I may not have found what I was looking for, but I did find a gem

Im hooked, and cant wait to see more.

I’ve been writing for a while now, but never anything in this style, and I am pbsessed.

(1 edit) (+1)

I'm sorry you didn't find what you were looking for, but I'm so happy you enjoyed The House of Noctus! And thank you so much! Writing is such a subjective pursuit, it's fun to play around with different styles but sometimes hard to know (at least for me) what works well and what doesn't, which makes feedback like this so valuable :) Also, were you able to find what you were looking for? If not, feel free to describe it here and maybe myself or someone else can help with what you were looking for <3

(1 edit) (+1)

No, I never did find it.

I remember it was kinda like this, but you weren’t converted until after you got attacked, and one of them bit you to save your life.

You wake up in the house and get Skyrimd (Ah, youre finaly awake)

I dont remember a whole lot of details, but it was a while ago.

It was in early dev about a year ago, but the story is very similar to this one.

Edit: I found it!! So my memory was a little off, but I found it in the end!

Its called moonlight and its by K. Knight

(+1)

Glad you found it! It always sucks when you discover a great game and then can't find it when you go back to replay it. I just checked this one out and it looks so good! I'm definitely going to have to play this this weekend, thanks for the rec:)

Hey, I’m just glad that this whole thing led to me discovering this game!

(-5)

Hi!!!! Do you plan to give the male protagonist the option to be a top or a bottom?

(+3)(-2)

it is labeled as "otome" in the more information, so based on that alone that means no

So you can't become a top

(6 edits) (+1)(-1)

Hi, I apologize for the ambiguity on my part :) ! I’ve got it labeled as an otome because players can choose to play as a female MC with male love interests, but there’s also the option of playing as a male MC or a nonbinary MC with male love interests. At the moment, there’s no option to change the LIs’ genders (that’s more of a skill issue on my end than anything else 😅)

From what I read while preparing for the otome jam, a game could still fall under the otome umbrella if it includes the option of a female MC with male LIs, even if it also offers other MC options. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong! I'm still learning a lot in this space, and I appreciate the correction if I made a mistake 😄

So yes, players will be able to choose whether to play as a top or bottom. Sorry about the confusion on my end!

(2 edits) (+4)

Hi, sorry about all the confusion on my end! Yes, you’ll be able to choose whether to play as a top or bottom. Power games are a vampire’s bread and butter, after all 😄

During intimate moments, players will have multiple options to respond with more dominant or submissive choices depending on their preference. In more explicit scenes, you’ll also be able to choose whether you’d like to be the top or bottom when that choice affects the experience. Some love interests may have their own preferences 😉 but ultimately, your choices shape the dynamic.

Thanks for replying :). I already loved it and I will eagerly await updates.

(+1)

Wait, this is awesome! Your writing is really good. The mystery, the intrigue? Chef's kiss. We don't have much choice and most of the stats don't matter yet, but I'm looking forward to future updates very much~

Thank you so much! You're definitely right, there aren't as many choices as I'd like in the first chapter. Going back and adding choices to chapter one is on the top of my to-do list for THoN prior to chapter two :)

(+1)

I NEED THIS IN MY VIENS! Chapter one did amazing at pulling me in and now, i need chapter two. Also, i can't wait for the stats and things to start coming into play (refering to relations and such). Waiting for the next, thank you for sharing this with the world!

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the first chapter with me! Incorporating stats, Coven favor, relationship points, and branching narratives is going to be so much fun, I'm glad you're looking forward to it too :)

(+1)

LOVE this. I'm fond of the characters already and the way you write makes the story easy to follow. As soon as i saw vampires i knew i had to play. I'm looking forward to future updates!

(+1)

Thank you for playing The House of Noctus, I'm so glad you enjoyed the first chapter, fangs and all :) I've been busy with a side project I wasn't expecting to come up, but I'm looking forward to getting back to continuing work on the story soon!

(+2)

This game is fantastic! I'm so excited to see the next chapters and really sink my teeth into this. You have no idea how much inspiration you've given me to write my own stories again and keep track of this one.

Writer to writer, you this is a good stuff. Angsty vampires are my jam but see so little of it in VN form.

Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed The House of Noctus :) And I'm so glad it helped with inspiration, that honestly means so much to me! I'd love to hear more about what sort of stories you write if you're comfortable sharing, I'm always looking for inspiration myself! And haha, I know right,  I've always wondered why there aren't more angsty vampires and werewolves in this space! Definitely looking to add more :)

(+3)

WHAT BEAUTIFUL WRITING, CHARACTERS, GOD I'M A FAN OF LESTAT but Dimitri is winking at me...

 Esperando nuevas actualizaciones mooor

(1 edit)

Thank you, I'm so glad you enjoyed the first chapter of The House of Noctus! Hehehe don't let them hear that 😏Their rivalry for MCs affection is already hot enough to start a blood war. They'd both love nothing more than an excuse to take one another out of the running, even if it would jeopardize their Coven's fragile truce with The Crimson Court

(+1)(-19)

haven't played but I'm curious, do you think you might make a male protag version with female love interests? doesn't have to be vamps again, could be medieval wizards or werewolves or something else

(+10)(-3)

why

(+5)

I imagine if you did some digging you could probably find something like that already tbh

(2 edits) (+4)(-1)

Hi! Right now MC is gender selectable :) I've toyed around with the possibility of making the ROs gender selectable as well, but right now I don't know how to do that as far as coding it goes, so that may take a bit of time :) Also I do have a weakness for all things supernatural, so after I finish THoN, a werewolf IF may be in the future! Nothing set in stone yet though haha, and I wouldn't start that till THoN is completely finished so its a ways down the road.

(+1)

OMG I love this so much. You got me hooked, and I was disappointed to finish chapter 1 so soon.

I'm also a writer, so I'd love to help speed some development along if you need. :D

Such a good story, and I'm hooked.

(1 edit) (+1)

Thank you so much for the kind comment! I'm so happy to hear that you enjoyed the first chapter of The House of Noctus :) Oh really?! That's awesome! Do you have a certain genre you specialize in? I would love some feedback once I finish chapter two and/or some major additions I plan to make for the first chapter if you have the time! <3

Yea, of course! I don't really specialize in any genre. I just kind of create as I think of things.

Sorry for the late reply, I have discord. Lmk if you want to connect. Add me at rebe247. Thanks

❤️👍

(+1)

Woooooo i like this kimd of genreee looking forward for thisss

(+1)

Thank you, I'm glad you like The House of Noctus so far. And hehe same!

Angst+ Hot vampires= my guilty pleasure :)

Very good story, very promising, very entertaining, very enjoyable, and very much more. I love this vibe. Cant wait for more

Thank you for taking the time to play The House of Noctus, I'm glad you enjoyed the first chapter and the angsty vampire vibes :)

(+2)

Very nicely done. I look forward to the next chapter and the following chapters. You've created a very immersive world with seductive characters.

Thank you! Immersion is something I always worry about when I'm writing, so I really appreciate the feedback! :)

Oooohhh this is amazing!!! The writing, the action and overall everything is great!!! Keep up the good work🤗

Thank you for playing The House of Noctus, I'm so glad you enjoyed the first chapter :)

(+1)

I LOVE IT! The writing is very good and detailed, it's a story that hooks you and grabs u very quickly, I would love for there to be more options, but even so it's perfect this way, I love Lestat, my man without a doubt, although I die for those personalities of obsessive men like Dimitri, it's my guilty pleasure, YEESS YES YEESS.

I definitely understand wanting more options, and that's absolutely something I plan to incorporate to THoN in future updates!! Those additions will probably be the next major update I make to the game :) Hehe I love that, especially since Lestat and Dimitri absolutely loathe each other lol!

This is looking amazing so far and I hope you continue to create and add to it in the future! But seriously did you make this music yourself? If not imma need a name so I can listen to it 24/7

Haha I wish I was that talented! I didn't make the music myself, I will add the music titles and artists to the credit section soon though :) I'm so glad you like the music! It took me forever to find something that felt 'right' for THoN!

(1 edit) (-1)

I have two questions I want to ask if you don't mind? Is it a gender locked story & also is it a only gay romance  story??

(+2)(-1)

Protagonist is gender selectable, The romances are all listed with He/Him Pronouns so I'd assume they are all male

(2 edits) (-1)

Gender is selectable! Right now the romance options are all men, but I have considered making the RO's gender selectable. This would mainly only change some of the 18+ scenes, the bigger hurdle is figuring out how to code it but I've seen it done with other IFs really well, so I'd like to offer that option with THoN too at some point :)

(1 edit)

I absolutely love it so far and love the writing style. Smooth flow and descriptive! Will probably end up being one of my fave IF's.

(+1)

Thank you, that's so kind of you! <3 It's still in its early stages, but I'm so glad you're enjoying The House of Noctus so far :)

(+9)

If I had a nickel for every time I read an IF about an amnesiac vampire, I'd have to nickels. Which isn't a lot but it's great that it happened twice 'cause this is my shit

(2 edits)

Love this comment!! <3 Made me smile so much haha. And I'm so glad you're enjoying The House of Noctus so far :)

(1 edit) (+3)

Hello, I wanna start by saying the premise and story so far are very interesting. The writing is also very immersive and impressive! Overall, amazing job. I also really enjoy the characters. Personally, the only gripe I have is revolving how the MC runs away. I think you already mentioned possibly adding an option to not have that happen. I just feel like I wouldn't run away from a group of people trying to protect me with no memories plus almost being killed. I would understand if the mc was threatened to some degree, but based of the information given it doesn't present that way. Just a small critique though, otherwise I'm excited to see where this will go!

(1 edit)

Thank you for playing The House of Noctus! I definitely agree with your point about how there should be more options for how to respond. A lot of people probably wouldn't run away from someone that just saved them after a near death experience, and is offering them protection while they recover.

In the next update, I plan on going in and adding more options for how to respond so that you can choose whether to stay or run :) Also more options for other responses in general so that players have more autonomy in how MC develops and leads The Coven. Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback, I really appreciate your input on how I can improve the game <3

I want to play this so much!

Thank you! <3 I hope you enjoy the first chapter!

this is AMAZING!!! Can't wait for more updates 😝😝

(1 edit) (+1)

Thanks so much! ❤️ I'm really glad you're enjoying the first chapter so far!! 😄

This is such a great story!! Do you need any other beta readers?

Thank you, I would love another beta reader!! ❤️ I haven't finished the second chapter yet, but when I do I would love to know your thoughts! Please let me know how you prefer to communicate, usually I've been posting a google form for my beta readers to share their email with me and reaching out to them that way 😄

I can share my email with you via google form, that'll work great!

I'm also on tumblr as celestialraes !!

Awesome :) I will post a google form for beta readers when the next chapter is finished and include a part to submit your email. <3 Thank you so much!
