The cockatiel ( Nymphycus hollandicus ), commonly known as cockatiel (English), is native to Australia. This small parrot ( because it is indeed a parrot, despite its small size ) can be found in the wild on almost the entire Australian continent with the exception of humid coastal regions. They live in groups of up to a thousand individuals and it is the cohesion of the group that ensures their safety.
