A Belle Epoque diamond tiara, early 20th century. Of foliate design, set with cushion-shaped, circular-cut and rose diamonds, nine diamonds replaced with diamond simulants, inner circumference approximately 225mm.
This tiara was assembled during the first decades of the 20th century using elements from different 19th century jewels. The section of particular interest is the flexible diamond band of interlocking circlets running along the base of the frame. This jewel, now without clasp, would most probably have been a necklace/bandeau combination made around 1900.
