Cool, cool. Still going to wait for the stable release though, because I'm not a tester and it would be moronic to play the test version for any other reason but to test for bugs and report them. Even though that's what almost everyone is doing here... it's no wonder they removed the test builds from itch.io.

The new controls are objectively better. You autistic fucks have been crying about this for months, give it a rest.
It's knuckle-dragging retards like you why they removed the ability to download the new test versions from itch.io. You are all whiny, self-entitled autismos that can't handle change, literally all this comes down to. Why are you even playing the test version? It's meant for TESTERS to report bugs to the devs. You're clearly just crying because you're too stubborn to accept that the new controls are better and you somehow think these devs making a FREE game that isn't finished need to appeal to your specific needs. You aren't reporting any bugs, I fucking know you aren't.
This is why the devs ignore these forums, because you're all insufferable autistic children.
Genuinely go lay down in traffic, the world will improve. Give me all the downvotes, you room temp IQ apes. I know you will because no one on this site has any goddamn sense, and I'm tired of acting like it's not okay to get pissed and shit on morons like you. You deserve the worst.
itch.io community really showing it's full of morons that don't know what the phrase "TEST BUILD" means. Damn dude it's no wonder the devs don't interact with people here.
You shouldn't be playing this unless you're testing it for bugs anyway. It's called a TEST build for TESTERS for a reason.
TEST build for TESTERS for TESTING the game, not PLAYING it. The game is NOT FINISHED and should not be judged as a finished game. Is any of this getting through to you? God damn.
May want to curb this entitlement. It's a free game that has the words "BROKEN" and "UNSTABLE" and "FOR TESTERS" on it for a reason, yet here you are, blatantly ignoring all the warning signs and crying on the forums like a petulant child. You test a game by testing it, not just casually playing it you dimwit. You don't treat this as a game to just be played, and I see you using this as an excuse, which is stupid bullshit. THIS kind of shit is why the devs have to put words in all caps all over the file name, to deter knuckle-draggers like you.
You figuratively walked into a lake with "no swimming" signs everywhere and are whining and throwing a tantrum because you got wet. At this point you seem so inept I would say don't bother helping with bugtesting, you probably wouldn't be able to provide anything of value anyway. Did you submit any bugs reports at all? Did you tell them any of this in an official bug report or take a look at the publicly available Google doc with reported bugs? Or did you just feel like crying on the itch.io forums instead of doing something constructive? I suggest going back to the stable version and wait for 0.9.0 to release fully. People like you piss me off and only serve to show the developers that their community is full of fucking retards. Get bent.
No, stop asking.
The new controls are better, you just need to get used to them. I did, and so can you.
Besides, this is an unstable shadow test build meant for reporting bugs, not playing casually. If you don't like it, keep playing the stable version or wait for the full release of 0.9.0
Change isnt as scary as you might think.
Thanks for the bug reporting resources. Perusing the Google doc to observe what bugs have been reported, what's being worked on, and dev comments has been really interesting. It's good for people to know these resources exist so they can actually get their bug reported. I feel like just posting it in the itch forums can only go so far. I would imagine the devs are mostly reading those reports, and not so much reading through these forums.
Just don't do the task for the day if you don't want to. There's no penalty unless you set one yourself. They say you did bad in an email but nothing actually happens. Nothing is forcing you to do the daily tasks. So what if it affects the weekly report? All that does is make them pay you less. There are other ways to get money. I've gone several days without doing signals, earning money by farming or passively with the bitcoin miner. Just doing signals when you feel like it is much more liberating than feeling like it's a daily necessity.
Thanks for the investigative work. I'm not too surprised we'll have to get through at least one more unstable update. 0.9 seems like a massive upgrade bringing not only more content and locations but overall polish. I was thinking 0.9.0 would probably be out early next year, but it may be a little longer than that. I'd imagine next update is focused on getting broken things working again, namely the Arirals.
You can collect some sugar cane from the lakeside. Buy a rake, faucet, hose, and sprinkler. Set these up in the grass by your base and you can make a bunch of sugar bags at the workbench to sell from the sugar cane you grow. The sprinkler covers a large area. I've been able to grow at least a 6x6 grid and each harvest gets you ~700 points. The squares of soil the rake makes don't have to be lined up perfectly to work.
Most of the complaints are from people who haven't even played it. They're upset that it's a complicated game that they have to actively engage with and not some passive Tiktok slop. This game is one of a kind. It won't vibe with everyone.
Basically casual shitters being filtered by an actual video game.
The ATV battery does seem to drain pretty fast. I get it's a mechanic but realistically a vehicle has a part called an alternator which keeps the battery charged while the vehicle is running. It seems like a bit of a weak maintenance addition to the ATV. I'm fine with the tires, but we don't need Dr. Kel becoming a mechanic and actions becoming tedious like My Summer Car. I know that's an extreme example, but that game is a prime example of tedious game design.
You can't. You're going to have to get used to the new way. But it's okay, because the new controls are objectively better. Having to press Alt as a modifier for anything in a first person game is actually unintuitive. I got annoyed with it enough that I rebound that to an extra button on my mouse. I love being able to either press or hold one of two buttons for different actions. It needs a little work to be more consistent across different objects, but it's much more comfortable than the old way. I know change is scary for some people, but you can get used to this better control scheme too.
I don't really get people complaining about things. It's a free game still in alpha, on an unstable test build. Yall need to relax.
I like all the new additions, makes late game less boring and the floppy disks are a nice change to having to write down hashcodes, SO much better! The new control scheme is much more intuitive. It's starting to feel like a more polished game. It's gone from pre-alpha to alpha so big changes are expected, and I'm sure they'll be tweaked and changed with time.
Haven't gotten too into it, but exploring all the new stuff is really cool. The signal pinging is more involved which is cool. I felt like it was a little too basic. The generator mini game is cool too, I like that it's more involved than just "press button". That never really made sense to me.
They're developing more things to keep us busy and explore the map, which is great because as I said earlier, it will make the later days of the game less boring and routine. Once I get KerfurO I felt like I "beat" the game since I don't need to do a whole lot, so adding more to do in late game is really nice.
I just hope that it won't suffer from too much feature creep. I'm glad to see that they're still focusing on the main aspects of the game, because I became a bit worried when I saw all these other things being added and I was worried the focus would be lost, but it seems like it's still going in a good direction. Customizing the base and doing other "immersive sim" type stuff is really fun, but I don't want that to become the main focus of the game. I'm just glad they don't have the mentality that the dev of My Summer Car has. He just adds things in the game to artificially slow progression and make things more tedious, and eventually that game just turned into a masochism simulator, every action is like a lesson in tedium. I'm so glad this game isn't going that way.
I can only imagine what this game will be like once it enters Beta, and even the finished product. I genuinely hope it just keeps getting better.
Resetting generators are literally little baby mini games, what PhD are you talking about? lol.
Honestly I feel like the game got boring later on. I'm glad they're adding more. Same with PZ, that game is better than it's ever been. I think you just want your games to be easy. Which is fine I guess, but you're in the wrong place for that dude.

I'd love the ability to sell the photos you take as well as signals. Maybe the ability to contact the people you work for to say "hey look at all the crazy shit happening here!"
Also some improvements to the ATV would be nice. Mostly in the SFX. But an updated model would be cool.
Perhaps a way to kill or capture entities and sell them too, if you want, and consequences for doing so.
More consequences for doing certain things, like how stealing from the Arirals works.
I've always thought it would be cool to have something like an entity that spawns or an event that happens when you throw too much trash in the river or lake. Like, too much littering would make, like, idk a tree come to life and come after you lol.
I really love the depth of the customization right now, but more focus on fleshing out the core gameplay loop and secrets would be really appreciated.
