I found it useful and it's the best available however some further refinement is required. I wish the saved favourites could be separated into different categories rather than have one giant long list. It seems the Chinese version already supports this feature. After significant messing about, I was able to register without a Chinese telephone number using the web client.

This is the only map that provides full and comprehensive lane guides (and sometimes in 3D) while driving here in Hong Kong (for both cars and motorbikes). This app has been helping me a lot in navigating complex highways, complicated roads and tunnels, where Google Maps and Waze have failed many times. It even provides you with a countdown for traffic lights, so you'll know exactly when to stop or go.

Just drove hundred of kilometers in China, including cities and countryside and it was flawless. I find Amap to be even better than Google Map because it tells you where *not* to go (as in, don't continue, make sure you go off-ramp, etc.) and tells you early enough on what lanes to go. Great experience for navigation!
