01/20/17 Central MN Shows the tops of a stratus cloud deck. Wind shear between the cloud layer and the layer above cause the clouds to look uneven on top. Density differences between layers produce waves in the clouds. The top of the picture shows cirrus clouds. The cirrus clouds are at higher altitudes and are composed of mainly ice crystals.
