I’ve done a systems analysis of Alberta’s political system—and found out some facts that I suspect few people know. Did you know, for example, that in 121 years not once has a political party governed Alberta, been voted out of office, and then been re-elected? Or that in the last 20 years not one single premier has been in power for more than one term? I argue that Alberta has been a ‘dominant-party’ democracy since the province was created, but that system may now be transitioning into a two-party system. And because of that change Danielle Smith has been supporting extremist factions to hold onto power.
