Hairpin dns issue

Community iconc/selfhosted@lemmy.world by
mortalic@lemmy.world

I’ve got Immich working great on Unraid, but if I’m on my network I can’t really use it. Just fails to resolve the dns. I looked it up and it’s that my router doesn’t support hairpin or something. It’s a Aginet hb810. I found a workaround in the Immich client where you can add a second entry that’s network specific, but it doesn’t seem to work very reliably.

Home Maintenance Reminder system

Any idea for a self hosted home maintenance reminder system? Essentially something that will have reminders for things that reoccur regularly either ie yearly, monthly etc. Ideally it would have some way of checking it off to show the task was completed and then it would reoccur at the preset time next month /year etc.

WireGuard is blocked by DPI in 10+ countries now. AmneziaWG 2.0 is a fork that makes the traffic look like random noise - DPI can’t tell it apart from normal UDP. Same crypto under the hood, negligible speed overhead.

I had one SIM-card left that had been “grandfathered” into the current system, in which you are required by law to have the card registered with your social security number. Because Gestapo, that’s why. Anyway, I was keeping it hidden away in my wireless earbuds’ case, taped under the lid, but it must’ve gotten loose. Ah well… I wasn’t really using it for anything, keeping it around just in case.

YASA: Scalable Multi-Language Taint Analysis on the Unified AST at Ant Group (arxiv.org)

Community iconc/security@lemmy.ml by
☆ Yσɠƚԋσʂ ☆@lemmy.ml

This paper addresses a massive headache in enterprise software engineering which is securing codebases that mix multiple programming languages. Large companies rely on a mix of Java, Go, Python, and JavaScript to build their platforms. Historically security teams had to use entirely separate static analysis tools for each language which scales terribly and creates a fragmented mess of vulnerability reports. Existing multi-language frameworks like CodeQL and Joern fall short. CodeQL relies heavily on language-specific extractors which means only a tiny fraction of its codebase is actually shared across languages. Joern tries to shove everything into a unified graph but ends up over-abstracting the code and losing critical nuances like how JavaScript handles prototype chains.

What does your self-hosted e-book management workflow look like?

Community iconc/selfhosted@lemmy.world by

My e-book management currently consist of storing a bunch of files, both .epub, .pdf and .azw3 stored either by author (fiction) or by topic (non-fiction), for various sources (purchased e-books, downloaded via University subscriptions, Project Guthenberg and some from Library Genesis/Anna’s Archive). For some time I’d been wanting to organize them better, with a web UI to download in a format of my choice and to be able to share with others.

A shell script that highlights exactly which words changed and exports a clean, color-coded HTML or PDF report: wordif.sh

Here’s a useful shell script for anyone working with text files. wordif.sh does word-by-word comparisons and outputs the results as highlighted HTML or PDF. It’s much easier to read than standard terminal diffs, especially when you’re comparing entire directories. Simple and effective for document reviews. https://github.com/jazzfan2/wordif

I’m using TinyAuth for forwardauth but the service I’m trying to use consistently is saying the headers are not set (and I can verify, they’re not there.)

Power efficiency

I’m wondering what folks do to optimise the power efficiency of their Linux servers. I’ve never really got to the bottom of what is the best way to do this and with the current energy crisis its a pertinent topic.

Grist (spreadsheets) v1.7.12 adds Automations (github.com)

Community iconc/selfhosted@lemmy.world by

This is pretty because Grist can react to changes in your data automatically, sending emails or firing webhooks. I only recently learned about grist and have been playing with it a bit in the hosted version. Thinking of adding it to my list of applications to run soon. Seems like it’s not super well known in this sub though. Do people prefer something else?

Can Anubis and Iocane be linked?

This may sound like a weird thing to do, but I realised that many crawlers and bots are somehow still able to get past my Anubis. I presume they have gotten smarter and are capable of using JavaScript.

Hosting Lemmy experience

Community iconc/selfhosted@lemmy.world by

I’m considering starting a Lemmy instance with a limited federation model, and one of the things I’m thinking about from the start is how to support and maintain it as it grows, while spending as little attention as possible on the technical side of infrastructure management itself.
