Abstract

A bone anchor (54) and methods for using same to secure connective tissue, such as tendons (16), to bone (12) are disclosed which permit a suture (56) attachment that lies entirely beneath the cortical bone surface. The bone anchor (54) of the invention incorporates a deformable body that creates an increased anchor body diameter (48) after it is inserted into the cancellous bone and deployed beneath the corical surface of the bone (12). The increased body diameter (48), by virture of its intrinsic geometry, creates both axial and rotational fixation of the bone (54) anchor or suture (56) fixation point.
