Abstract

The invention relates to a cash drawer, comprising a cuboid housing open on its front wall and a drawer slidably guided therein with a lower part of a drawer and a compartment insert, the height of which is less than the height of the entire drawer.

In conventional cash drawers of the type mentioned above, the lower part of the drawer is usually fixed in the housing. The space under the compartment insert is used to hold checks, large banknotes and supply rolls for hard cash. The compartment insert can be removed at the end of the checkout, then the Checks, the large banknotes and the supply rolls must be removed from the lower part of the drawer.

Due to the miniaturization of electronics, the housings of cash registers are getting smaller and smaller. This results in the requirement to reduce the cash drawer accordingly. A downsizing of the cash register is limited by the fact that on the other hand there is a requirement to design and arrange the money inserts and compartments for the reception of banknotes and coins in such a way that all note and coin types are in an ergonomically favorable grip position for the operating position.

The invention is based on the object of designing a cash drawer of the type mentioned at the outset in such a way that the aforementioned requirement can also be met with small external dimensions of the cash drawer.

This object is achieved in that the compartment insert comprises a removable first insert section near the front wall of the drawer and a rear second insert section which on the lower part of the drawer parallel to the sliding direction of the drawer between a first position covering the bottom of the lower part of the drawer and a two ¬ th position is displaceable in which it releases access to the rear floor area of the lower part of the drawer.

The solution according to the invention gives the drawer a second level below the second insert section, which can also be divided into compartments by the arrangement of corresponding dividing walls and is easily accessible. As mentioned at the beginning, it was also possible to accommodate coins or notes under the compartment insert in a conventional cash drawer, but these were only accessible in that the operator removed the entire compartment insert and had to hold it in his hand since there was generally no space is to put it down somewhere. The operator thus had only one hand free for access to the lower part of the drawer. In the solution according to the invention, on the other hand, it is sufficient to move the second insert section backwards in order to expose the compartments underneath, which are then easily accessible for the operator, the operator having both hands free.

In a preferred embodiment of the invention, a resiliently deflectable stop is provided on the housing or the second insert section, which interacts with the respective other of the two parts or with a driver arranged on it in the sense that the second insert section when the drawer is pulled out his second position is shifted. In this solution, the second insert section is automatically held by the stop on the last part of the sliding path of the drawer when the drawer is extended or pulled out of the housing and is thus shifted backwards relative to the lower part of the drawer, so that the bottom compartments of the lower part of the drawer are exposed become. At the same time, the resilient stop can be overcome by an additional tensile force, so that the drawer can be pulled completely out of the housing. This is useful in order to be able to remove the drawer from the housing as a whole at the checkout. This is the drawer part formed so that it is placed on the extendable rail parts of telescopic rail guides, the fixed rail parts of which are attached to the housing. The drawer therefore does not need to be emptied at the end of the checkout, but can be taken along as a whole.

In order to securely guide the second insert section on the lower part of the drawer, it is expedient if the second insert section has guide claws on its side walls, each of which engages around a guide rail on the lower part of the drawer that is parallel to the sliding direction.

The second insert section can have a plurality of compartments which are separated by walls parallel to the sliding direction and which are provided with a cover in a rear partial area adjoining the rear wall of the second insert section. These compartments are designed to hold smaller notes. In order to make even large notes easily accessible without, for example, having to remove the front insert section, which is usually provided for coinage, in a preferred embodiment of the cash drawer according to the invention, at least one overlap between the two insert sections arranged the entire height of the drawer compartment.

The space under the first insert section can be reserved for checks, for example. For this purpose, it is expedient if an insertion slot leading to this bottom compartment of the lower part of the drawer is formed in the front wall of the drawer. The first insert section therefore does not have to be removed for the insertion of checks. The lower drawer part and the insert sections can be designed such that the insert sections extend over the entire width of the drawer, ie are not held by side walls of the lower drawer part. This allows some space for the fan inserts to be gained.

The cash drawer shown in FIG. 1 comprises a cuboid housing 10 which is open at one of its end faces. Telescopic rails 14 are arranged on the inside of the side walls 12 of the housing 10 and comprise a fixed rail part 16 fastened to the respective side wall 12 and at least one extendable movable rail part 18.

A drawer 20 which can be pushed into the housing 10 comprises a lower drawer part 22 and two insert sections 24 and 26 which can be inserted into the drawer part 22. The drawer 20 can be closed with a cover 28 when it is removed from the housing 10 at the checkout.

The lower part of the drawer 22 has a bottom 30, a front wall 32, side walls 34 and a half-height rear wall 36. The lower part 34 of the side walls 34 is offset inwards so that contact surfaces 38 are created with which the drawer 20 can be placed on the movable rail parts 18 of the telescopic rail guides 14 rests. At the same time, a step 40 is created on the inside of the drawer, on which the insert sections 24 and 26 are seated. In the lower part of the drawer 22, a compartment 46 for receiving large notes is formed by two partition walls 42, 44 running perpendicular to the side walls 34, the height of which is equal to the height of the side walls 34. This Compartment 46 separates a first receiving space 48 for receiving the first insert section 24 and a second receiving space 50 for receiving the second insert section 26. At the rear end of the guide rail 64 there is a deflectable spring tongue 66, via which the insert section 26 can be pushed onto the guide rails and which then serves as a stop when pushing back the insert section 26.
