F. WOLF. GLOAK RACK.
No 478,386. Patented July 5, 1892.
WIT/VESSES UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
FRANK WOLF, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
CLoAK'- RACK.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 478,386, dated J' uly 5, 1892.
Application led March 14, 1891. Serial No. 385,037. (No model.)
To a/ZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRANK WOLF, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Cloak-Racks, of which the following is a specification.
Thisinventiou relates to an improved cloakrack of that class which is used in salesrooms for suspending cloaks by means of movable hangers, said cloak-rack being so constructed that the cloaks can be readily removed from the hangers and replaced on the same, and that they can be shifted with the hangers on the supporting-rail of the rack, whereby the exhibiting and handling of the cloaks by the salesmen is considerablyfacilitated and the invention consists of a cloak-rack formed of an upright standard provided with a socket at its upper end, a ring-shaped railsupported on radial arms,a central connecting-piece for said arms, having a fixed pivot-pin inserted into the socket of said standard, said rail being provided with a groove in its top part, and a cloak-hanger having an anti-friction roller, which is guided in said groove, as will be fully set forth hereinafter, and finally be pointed out in the claim'.
In the accompanying drawings, Figurev 1 represents a perspective viewofmy improved cloak-rack. Fig. 2 is a vertical transverse section of the swiveled supporting-rail of the same, drawn on a larger scale; and Fig. 3 is a vertical transverse section of the supportin g-rail, drawn on a still larger scale and showing a cloak-hanger supported thereon.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
Referring to the drawings, A represents the upright standard of my improved cloak-rack, and B a ring-shaped rail, which is supported by radial arms B', that are attached to a central connecting-piece C, having a fixed pivotpin at its lower end, which is inserted into the socket in the upper end of the standard A.
to the circumference of the supporting-rail.
In the former case a large number of cloaks can be suspended from the circular supporting-rail and readily exhibited by being moved around the track formed in the same, while in the latter case a smaller number of the goods can be suspended, but they can be exhibited to greater advantage, which in the case of smoking-jackets and the like is of considerable advantage.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as'new and desire to secure by Letters Patent* The combination, with an upright standard having a socket at its upper end, of a ringshaped supporting-rail provided with a groove in its top part, radial arms attached to the inner circumference of the ring-shaped rail, a central connecting-piece for said arms, provided with a iixed pivot-pinat its lower end, said pivot-pin being adaptedto be inserted into the socket of the standard, and a cloakhanger having an anti-friction roller at its upper end guided in the groove of the rail, substantially as set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as lmy invention I have signed my name in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
FRANK WOLF. Witnesses:
