A machine for applying tabs to wrappers comprising tab-feeding means, mechanism including disengageable clutch members for effecting operation off said tab-feeding means, wrapper-feeding means including structure movable cyclically toward and from engagement With the end wrapper of a stack, mechanism operative in each cycle of said structure to effect disengagement of said clutch members in event of failure of said structure to engage a wrapper, and mechanism operative in each cycle of said structure to effect re-engagement of said clutch members in anticipiation of engagement by said structure with a, Wrapper in its next cycle.

Wrapper tabbing and coating comprising a roll for applying heated liquid-adhesive to wrappers and to the box-engaging faces of tabs on the Wrappers, a second roll for applying adhesive to the Wrapper-engaging faces of the tabs, and means for supplying to said second roll liquidadhesive which is cooler than the adhesive supplied to the first-named roll comprising means for collecting excess adhesive at the end of said first-named roll, and means for distributing aforesaid collected adhesive on the surface of said second roll.

Apparatus for applying adhesive to sheets comprising, in combination with a, sheet-coating mechanism including a sheet-engaging roll and a roll for transferring adhesive to said sheetengaging roll, a system for supplying adhesive to said transfer roll comprising a container for the adhesive supplied to said transfer roll, a container for liquid in contact withrst-named container transmitting heat to the adhesive in said firstnamed container, means for heating said liquid, a spray head adjacent and for delivering cleansing fluid to said sheet-engaging and adhesive transfer rolls, means for delivering cleansing fluid to said spray head, and means for heating said cleansing fluid associated with said liquid heating means.
