' R. HICKS POLISHING CLOTH F1101! July 50, 1924 Patented Sept. 21, 1926.
ROLAND nroxs, or names, nnmnso'ral romsnme crown.
Application filed July 30,
This invention relates to toilet articles and the method of making same, and has special reference to a nail polishing clothj The principal object of the invention is a to provide a convenient device for use in polishing the finger nails.
Another object is to so combine a polishing cloth and the ingredients for producing the polish as to make the most convenient H1 toilet accessory possible. i 4
Other objects and advantages of the novel combination will appear in the further description thereof. l
The accompanying drawing, formingpa-rt of this'application, is a perspective view of a persons hands duringlthe employment of thedcloth illustrating how thesame may 'be use 1 represents the clotln'which is preferably 2 of porous weave, such as felt or the like,
which is thoroughly impregnated with the polishing material, combinin erefined marl in powder form, mortar coloring also in powder form, and glycerine. r
The process employed in impregnating the cloth is to first thoroughly saturate the dry cloth with the mixture of powdered marl and mortar coloring, then applying a liquid solution of the marl, mortar coloring, and glycerine to either side thereof, when the cloth being the mixture is passed several times between rubber rollers under pressure so as' to thor-v oughly force all of the impre thus saturated and covered with a material possible L 1924. Serial No. 729,140.
into the cloth simultaneously with the re-ml moval of any surplus which the cloth'will 7 'not take up.
After this preparation, the cloth is ready for use and will retain its detergent or pollshmg properties almost indefinitely, or at 40 least so long as any of the properties'of the glycerine remain with the cloth.
In this manneran exceedingly simple and convenient device for the purpose of polishing 18 provided and one that occupies -15 the. least possiblespace avoiding the necessity of separate receptacles, buffers and pollshers now commonly used.
Havlng thus described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Pat- '50 ent, is':- 1. The herein described method of makng a linger nail polishing article consistmg of impregnating aiece of porous cloth with a granular, abrasive substance in dry form, then applying a solution consistin of the same s 'bstance and 'glycerine', and then pas:ing the cloth thus saturated intermediate of squeezing rollers for the purpose described. z 2. The herein described method of akin a finger nail polishing article consis t ing o noting a piece of porous cloth with a granu ar abrasive substance in dry form, ap-
lying a liquid solution thereto, and remov- 6 mg the surplus composition by pressure.
