An object of theinvention is to provideV a crier which may constitute all, or approximately all, of the body portion or a doll, that is-one in which little or no covering, or stuff- 'lng material, will be required to complete theA body or trunk portion of. the doll... y
A further Obj ect is to provide a crier which will makefull useof all of the space within a doll body, to the end that the maximum duration and power of cry-,may bel obtained from a given sizeofbody. n

V-
By `the present invention howevenitf is forni as to actuallycomprise the entire, j.doll Y body, the head, arms and legs being connected 'thereto in' any approved manner either by being attached directly yto the'mat'erial of thel crier-orto a simple cloth v.covering stretched over the-crier. v- .f .Y To this end the crier as illustrated consists of a shellorbody portion Lwhich, is of a Shape desir-@d fofy @heden body, or, if intend-- ed'to beprovidedzwith a cloth coveringor-the lilre, ol approximately the shape of the doll bodv.
within this han is arranged, a weight )of consists of ytwoidentic'al halves asl .andf'2 interposed diaphragm orbellows'cloth 5, the
'convexed portions t being bowed away, from eachother to thereby provide a central cavity within. the weightcentrallywithin whichis i arranged'a partition member .G dividing the cavity intotwo separate sound chambers as through the half l connnunieating with the '7 and 8, therebein-g anaperture asf9formed] chamber 7, and a similar ,aperture LUOrmed 1 through the half @communicating with the. chamber 8. 1 f y .The partition member has a centralopen? y i ing 11 therethrough made to fit and support the reed H, the freed being hel-d in said openy) Y roo ing so that its opposite ends project into the r The bellows'cloth 5 is held tightly between j 4ftheflange portions 3 8 ottheweight halves andhas its lentire marginalparts extending to vand fixed in `clamped relation between tele-` scoping parts as l2and 1.3 of theishell, the shell being yconveniently formed of Atwosepaoccurring approximately on jthe niedianline,
ratesmembers as 1li and, l5 connectedtog ethery i by the telesoopingfparts 12 and '13saicl partsl of the shell, and the bellows cloth heilig sufficiently loose between the weight and its point of engagement between said parts to enable the weight to move -freely from sideto side of the shell, that is between the positions shown by full and dotted lines in the drawings. i
The joint between the parts 12 and' 13 is intended to be air tight as is also the bellows cloth itself and the connection thereof with the weight, and the member 14 ofthe shell is imperforate so that there is thus defined a very ellicient bellows for producing amovement of air through the opening 9, chamber 7, reed H, chamber 8, and opening -whenever the weight gravitates in a direction for collapsing this bellows, that isV for moving the weight from the full line position toward its dotted line position in the drawings. `The passage of airthus caused will produce sounding of the reed.
The member 15 of the shell is provided with one or more perforations as 16 therethrough through which the sound emanating from opening 10 may pass freely outwardly from the device. Y Y
lf a covering material, as suggested by the dotted lines 1.7, is employed, or the doll is pass directly through the perforations 16V intecting cover consisting of the shell member 15 whichalso serves to connect the bellows i cloth with the stationary head of the bellows.
`dationl for a cloth covering therefor.
The stationary bellows head 14 is cup shaped and constitutes one part or half of the doll body, or at least a supporting frame or :topge protecting cover shell member 15 is also cup shaped and constitutes another part or half of the doll body. And the movable head H is freely suspended between the two cupped body forming shell members.
The particular method shown for connecting together the two halves of the shellgand retaining the bellows cloth is suggested merely for `the purpose of illustration and it will be understood that other methods of connecting together these parts may be resorted to as may be found most expedient.
The manner of connecting together the two halves 1 and 2 of the movablel bellows head G may take anydesired forni. For the purpose of the `present description however a simple method of connection is shown which consists in first placing together the `two halves 1 and 2, with the bellows cloth `manner and holds the halves in tight clamping engagement with the interposed bellows cloth, and likewise with the interposed partition member 6 so that said partition member, and its reed, areheld by the same operation.
By so constructing the device that the reed H has its opposite endsprojecting into the separate and distinct chambers 7 and 8 both of said chambers are made to serve as sound chambers, which materially increases the volume and improves the quality of sounds ultimately produced.
It will be apparent from the above that the full extent` of the interiorof the doll body is utilized as, `or for containing, the crier, and that hence the fullest ossible'duration and power `of cry may obtained in any given size of body, which is a matter of prime im ortance particularly in that a satisfactory uration and power of cry may be provided in doll bodies considerably V smaller than heretofore.
As many changes could be made in this (.fonstruction without departing from the scope of the invention as defined in the following claims, it is intended that all matter contained in the above description or shown in the accompanying drawings, shall be interpreted as illustrative only and `not in a limiting sense. Y
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is':-- Y Y 1. doll comprising a. body member consisting of a hollow shell, a gravity movable weight within said shell, a bellows cloth connected directly with said shell and weight to support the weight and to permitfree movement of the Weight within the shell to thereby `displace air, the wei ht being hollow and lows cloth connectingthe movable head with the stationary head, the stationary head being cup shaped, the bellows cloth being connected with `the movablehead and extending radially therefrom in all directions having its marginalportion connected witlrthe marginal vportion of thek stationary head so that the movable head is suspended from the stationary headV by means of said bellows cloth, the bellows cloth constituting the sole guide and support for the movable head and being free to A permit unobstructed movement of the movable `head into .and outof the stationary head for displacing'air `from `said stationary head, a reed arranged to be operated by the displaced air, and asecond cup shaped member corresponding injsize and contour to the first cup shaped member `having its marginal portion telescoping over the marginal portion oit' the irst cup rshaped Amember serving tov connect fthe twojcup shaped members together and to'iix the bellowscloth to the irst cup shaped member, the second cup shaped member being perfo- -rate and saidtwo cup shaped members thus f constituting a protecting shell within which the weight is Vsuspended by the bellows cloth at-the median line of the shell.
