Applicationfiled September 10, 1925. Serial No. 55,443. i
This invention relates to a toiletand tissue-paper package. v
a In hotels, sleeping cars, and other transient service, there is need for a small, compact, and inexpensive package of toiletor tissuepaper which will also serve as a means of dispensing the paper. In and by the present invention I have provided such a package which is capable of retaining a stack of interleaved sheets in compact form at all times, while permitting individual sheets to be readily andeasily Withdrawn. The part of the package constituting the holder is of such simple and inexpensive construction that it may without undue waste be discarded after the sheets are used up.
In the accompanying drawing, I,
Fig. 1 shows a perspective view of a preferred form of my invention;
Fig. 2 shows a diagram of the interleaved sheets constituting the package;
Fig. 3 shows an end elevation of the 1nterleaved sheets, folded or doubled so as to adapt them to the present invention;
Fig. 4 shows a perspective view of a mod1 fied form of the package and holder;
Fig. 5 shows a cross-section of the package and holder illustrated in Fig. 4.
Fig. 6 shows a perspective view of a package of toiletor tissue-paper Without the holder.
In forming the present package I make use of a stack of interleaved sheets 10, folded and interleaved as indicated diagrammatically in Fig. 2. The stack containing a suitable number of sheets is folded longitudinally into the form shown in Fig. 3, thus providing a package which in cross-section has a wedge-like form. This package is then enclosed in a holder which may assume a variety of different forms, but in its preferred form is as shown in Fig. 1. This style of holderis formed of a single sheet of paper folded. into a loop 11 and held together at its corners by staples or other fastening means 12, so
as to leave a slit at'the bottom through which sheets may be withdrawn- The edges of the holder may be indented as shown at 13, to permit the user to'grip the edge of the lower and innermost sheet 14. The package may be provided with a tab 15 for hanging it up, which tab may be conveniently cut from the material forming the holder.
In the modified form of holder shown in.
holder. .to hold it intact by means of a suitable A In the use of the present. invent-ion, the I package is arranged as shown in Figs. 1 and 4, with the interleaved sheets folded into a wedge-like form and enclosed and supported in the holder. with the edges of the inner sheets lying adjacent the slit in the bottom of the holder. The operator thereupon grasps the lowermost sheet, which of course Wlll be the inner sheet of the package, and upon withdrawing the same the next adjacent sheet will be partially withdrawn from the holder, due to the manner in which the sheets are interfolded. v a
A holder as herein shown can be made and assembled at slight cost, and hence it becomes POSSlblB to discard it after the sheets are used up. The stack being doubled or looped as shownv in Figs. 3 and 6, assumes a Wedge-like form in which the innermost sheet is at the apex. It therefore is .in a position tobe easily grasped, and when withdrawn will carry with it the leading end of the next adjacent sheet. The package is compact and light, and may be carried conveniently in a travelers hand-baggage. I e
Such a package as shown in Fig. 6 may be made and sold separate from the holder, for the purpose of refilling a suitable type of In such instances it is preferable band 19.
. Various changes in the construction and arrangement of the several parts may be employed without departing from the spiritof to secure folded into a loop and enclosing the package,
and held together at its corners and leaving the edges between unsecured, so that a slit is provided, through which the sheets of the package maybe Withdrawn in successive order. Y
'A toiletor tissue-paper package comprising a stack of interleaved sheets folded 5 longitudinally to form a compact bundle having a' wedgeshaped conformation in crosssection, and a holder therefor conforming in shape to thehundle and arranged to exert yielding pressure inwardly on the sloping the sheets may be Withdrawn in successive order.
