An additional object of the invention is to provide a boiler including a pair of disengaging drums Vtogether with means whereby steam maybe ,taken from one drum,
superheated and conducted to the other disengaging drum where the superheated steam mixes with the 'saturated`steam, thus causing an equalizing oit temperatures and affording a steam carrying a desired degree of superheat. i
An additional object of the invention is to provide a Ywater tube boiler with a'rwater leg which is preferably rectangular7 together with a connecting member of novel 'form for connecting vthe water legi-'with a Vcylindrical drum; Y

Referring to the drawing by reference characters I have shown a boiler embodying the features oi. myy invention at 10. This boiler comprises a boiler setting 11 having a space 12 for a furnace therein and having a .r

The boiler shown is of the water tube type and Vincludes a mud; drum 15. A pair of steam and water drums 16 and 1T are located above the mud drum. v The drums 15 and 16 are shownas connected byA banks of tubes 18. A water. leg which is preferably a rec-- vtangular metal member is shown at 19 as having parallel, front and back portions. The drumsv 15 and 16 are connected to thtK water leg 19 by banks of curved tubes 20 and 2l respectively. y
' The steam and water drum 16 is indicated as provided with a feed water pipe 22 and with a steam discharge pipe 23. The drumk 17 is shown as provided with the usual water CIJ y surging of the water.
The boiler may be provided with battles 26 which maybe arranged in a manner to conduct the hot gases properly. It will be understood that the boiler is adapted for use with various types oft heat reducing devices whether it is coal, oil or rlhe arrangement of battles also may be changed to suit various conditions. p

In order to connect the water leg 19 with the drum 17 I 'provide a metallic throat piece 35 which may be Aconsti-iic'ted as a single piece member, or it desired'it may be made ot a plurality of parts.
This connecting member is provided with a rectangular bottom portion 86 which may be secured to the water leg 19,V by rivets such as shown at 37. The rivets are shown as single, although they may be double and staggered, if desired. The upper portion of the connecting member 36 is shown as curved as at 38 to lit the under portion ot' the drum 17.
The Water leg is placed in'communicationr )reserving the strength of the drum and atl the same time inthe aggregate furnishing a. passageway ot large area through which the water passes thus tending to prevent surging.
The drum 17is shown as provided with a baille which is provided with apertures along the bottoni edge thereoi" Vto allow passage `ot water. The balde Ll5 extends over the "openings l0 thus aiding in preventing The drums 1G and 17 are shown as yconnected by tubes which are arranged adjacent the upper portion 51 of the boiler setting. The tubes 50 provide, vin effect, a superlieater so that the steam which is disengaged in the drum v17 and which passes through the tubes 50`is superheated during passage. The superheat'ed steam, upon leaving 4the tubes 50mingles with the saturated steam in the drum 16 thus lowering the temperature of the superheated'steam entering drum 16 and providing a steam producthaving a desired degree otsuperhe'at.

It will lthus be seen that I provide amain water circuit 'through the drums 15' and 16 and the water leg 19 and steam i'sdisengaged in the drum 17 independently of the circuit mentioned.

In a boiler, a vplurality of drums, including a mud drum, a lsteam and water drum, a bank of tubes connecting said steam and water drum and the rmud drum, awater leg, a bank of tubes connecting the water leg to the mud drum and a third bank of tubes communicating directly with the water leg and with the steam Vand Water drumto provide a water circuit, said mud drum being below said vsteam andV Water drunLa third'v drum,l said' third drum being located above the Water leg, andmeans providing Va -passageway having a cross sectional area but slightly less than the interior crossV sectional area of' the water leg for vconnecting the water leg to the third drum whereby the velocity of water ascending in the water leg is low. l

saturated steam disengaged in the second drum to produce steam with a loiv degree of superheat, the steam disengaged in said rWatei` circuit and the steam passing ythrough v:said other tubes moving in the same direction and producing dry steam moderately superheated and With but slightV geysering action whereby a steady Water level is maintained.
4. In a boiler, a plurality of drums, including a front drum, a rear mud drum and a rear steam and Water drum, a bank of tubes connecting said steam and Water drinn and the mud drum, a Water leg, said leg having parallel front and back faces, a bank of curved tubes connecting the rear face of the AWater leg to the mud drum, bank of tubes connecting the rear face of the Water leg to the steam and Water drinn to provide a water circuit, means connecting said front drum directly with the Water leg, means spaced entirely above said third mentioned bank of tubes connecting the front drum to the rear steam and Water drum, said rear steam and Water drum having a steam outlet Y therein.
