UNl'lEl) PATENT EFIQE.
GIAN BATTISTA CANALE, OF SORI, ITALY.
Application filed February 2, 1925.
The object of the invention is an improved tunnel for measuring, drawing and pouring liquids fitted with means whereby the out-- flow of liquid can be controlled and regulated.
According to the invention the internally opening valve of which the upper end of the spout is the valve seat is hooked on the one hand by a spring around the end of the spout, on the other hand connected by coupling means with a hand lever which is carried by a clamp applied on the edge of the funnel.
The advantage of this device is that the liquid regulating means can be applied on tunnels of any size and kind and without requiring any modifications or work to be done on the funnel.
The invention is now illustrated in a preferred form in the drawing.
Fig. 1 shows an improved funnel accord ing to the invention in a vertical middle section.
Fig. 2 shows a detail of the clamp which carries the hand lever.
In these figures 1 is the tunnel of known form. 2 is a conical valve so arranged that the upper end of the spout 3 forms the valve seat. 4 is a spiral spring, which is connected at one end with the valve 2 and at the other end is hooked over the edge 5 of the end of the spout 3. This spring tends to keep the valve 2 closed. 6 is a clamp of bent metal wire which is detachably applied upon the edge of the funnel with its arms outside thereof and the central loop portion inside. This clamp serves as supporting means for the hand lever 7 which is pivoted on a wire passed through the convolutions between the arms and, central loop section. This hand Serial No. 6,461.
lever is coupled by a chain 8 with the valve 2. The chain is connected to the hand lever by passing one of its links over a hook on the end thereof and thus it can be adjusted in length to suit various funnels by booking any link onto this hook.
I claim 1. In a detachable valve, mechanism for tunnels in combination, a valve member adapted to seat in a funnel, a seating spring secured to the lower side thereof, a hook on said spring adapted to be secured over the edge of the spout of the funnel, an actuating lever adapted to be detachably secured to the rim of the funnel and an adjustable connection between said lever and valve member.
2. In a detachable valve mechanism to be applied toexisting tunnels, in combination, a valve member, a seating spring therefor adapted to pass through the spout of the funnel and be hooked over the edge thereof, an actuating lever adapted to be detachabl secured to the rim of the tunnel, and an a justable connection between said lever and valve member.
3. In a detachable valve, mechanism to be applied to existing tunnels, in combination, a valve member, a seating spring therefor adapted to pass through the spoutof the 70 tunnel and be hooked over the edge thereof, an actuating lever, a spring clip having arms to engage the inner and outer surfaces of said funnel near the rim, said lever being r pivoted to said clip, and a detachable and adjustable connection between said lever and valve member.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification.
GIAN BATTISTA CANALE.
