Description
Patented Aug. d, 1925.
nan-r stares ALBERT EDMONDSON, OE WARE, MASSACHUSETTS.
CLEANSING COMPOUND.
No Drawing.
To all whom it may concern."
Be it known that T, ALBERT EDMONDSON, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Ware, in the county of Hampshire and State of Massachusetts, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Cleansing Compounds, of which the following is a specification.
The present invention relates to a new and useful cleansing compound.
The primary object of this invention is to provide a cleansing compound which may be used for cleaning raw fibres, fabrics, clothing, or any other articles or objects desired, either by the manufacturers during the stages of producingthe same or by the consumers after they have purchased the finished products, j
A. further object of the invention is to provide a cleansing compound which may be used independently for cleaning such articles or objects as mentioned above or in combination with other cleansing compounds, such as soaps, powders, or fluids,
which have more of a suds or lather produc ing nature.
A still further object of the invention is to provide a compound formed of ingredi ents which maybe combined with the ingredients now being used in the manufacture of commercial soaps ahd cleaning powders and fluids for producing better cleaners.
Other objects and advantages of the invention will be'apparent during the course of the following description.
This invention contemplates the provision of a cleansing compound to be formed by the combining of sodium carbonate (soda ash) and hydrous sodium sulphate (Glaubers salts) which niay be used independently of or in combination with other cleansing compounds, such as soaps, powders, or
fluids, for cleaning raw fibres, such as wool or cotton; dyed or undyed fabrics either prior to or after being made into wearing apparel; and any other articlesor objects desired, either by the manufacturers during the several stages of production or by con- Application filed December 4, 1924.. Serial No. 753,965.
sumers after they have purchased the finished products. These ingredients may be compounded in any desired proportions, but I have found, by a series of experiments, that a compound consisting of three parts or seventy-five per cent of sodium carbonate and one part or twenty-five per cent of hydrous sodium sulphate will produce the desired result in a very; efficient manner.
It may be found, in using this compound far washing objects or articles, that the washing bath or fluid will lack the desired amount of suds or lather, and, for this reason, the combining of this compound with soaps or washing powders or fluids may be desirable. It is also suggested that the above mentioned ingredients may be compounded with the ingredientsnow being used in the manufacture of commercial soaps and washing powders, or fluids for producing better cleaning products. The combining of these ,tingredients with washing compounds renders 'the latter less irritable.
llt will be noticed in using this compound the sodium carbonate will give them a yellowish tinge. The adding of the hydrous sodium sulphate overcomes all of these bad effects.
Having'thus described my invention, I claim A cleansing compound consistin of 75% of sodium carbonate and 25% 0 sodium sulphate.
In testimony whereof Iaflix my signature.
ALBERT EDMONDSON.
