To all 20. mm it may concern Be it known that l, FRED Knssnn, a citizen of the United States, and resident of the city of New York, in the county of New York and State of l ew York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Casters, of which the following is a specification, the'same being a division of application for United States Letters Patent filed July 11, 1918, Serial No. 2at4,d4ll.

The present invention relates to improvements in casters or, in other words, to a stand for supporting condiment holders.

The main object of the invention is to provide a structure of this kind, on which a plurality of condiment-holders may be placed in such a manner that they can be conveniently removed therefrom, means being proviced for covering the perforated caps of the said holders, to prevent foreign matter from entering the same.

Another object of the invention is to so construct the support that it is adjustable, according to the sizes of the condiment holders.

A further object of the invention is to provide a stand of the type mentioned which is simple in construction, ellicient in operation and which can be manufactured on commercial scale, or, in other words, one which is not so ditlicult to produce as to be beyond the reasonable cost of such an article.

With these and other objects in view, which will more fully appear as the nature of the invention is better understood, the same consists in the combination, arrangement, and construction ct parts hereinafter described, pointed out in the appended claim and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, it being understood that many changes may be made in the size and proportion of the several parts and details of construction Within the scope of the appended claim Without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the advantage of the invention.

In the drawings, the numeral 1.0 indicates a heavy base, made of any suitable inate al and being of any suitable configuration. From this base rises a vertical star lard 11, comprising two sections, denoted by the nu morals 12 and 13. The section 12 is made in the form or a cylindrical bar, that is fixedly attached to the said base, and over this bar is drawn the section 13, in the form of a tube, the latter being rotatable around the said fixed section. To prevent disengagement of the two sections of the standard, there extends through the tube 13 a screw lei, the inner end of said screw being seated in a peripheral groove 15 in the section 12 of the said standard. This arrangement permits the tube 18 to be rotated upon the cylindrical bar 12.

Upon the tubular section 13 of the standard is shittably disposed a member 16, a. clampmg scrcv-a 17 serving to hold the same in any desired position upon the said tubular section. To the said member 16 is attached a plurality of condiment-holder sup ports, in the present case two, denoted by the numeral 18. Each of these supports comprises a disk shaped base 19, attached to a resilient bracket 20, that is connected by a clamping screw 21 with a resilient bracket 22, the latter carrying a cover 23. The base 19 and the cover 2.3 are spaced apart in registering position, for a purpose hereinafter to be described. The clamping screw extends through a longitudinal slot 2 1 in the bracket 22 and through a hole 25 in the bracket 20, and meshes with threads of a. hole 26 in the member 16. In order to keep the brackets 20 and 22 in proper positions, there is drawn over the same a clip 27 of U- shaped cross-section, the body portion 28 of the said clip abuttin against the front face of the bracket 20, and the flanges 29 of the said clip abutting against the sides of the two brackets of the support. T he condiment-holders, denoted in the drawings by tl e numeral 31, are placed upon the bases 19 by either depressing such bases or by lifting the covers 23. When in place, the covers prevent foreign matter from entering the condiment holders through the perforations 32 in the caps 33 thereof, and, also by reason of the resiliency oi the brackets, keep the condiment-holders safely in place. The condiment-holders are removed from the supports by either depressing the bases 19 until the caps 33thcreof clear the covers 23, or by forcing the caps upward until the bottoms of the holders clear the bases 19.
