Description

JwuenIo/a A. L. FHANKEBEHGEB. IVIOISTENER TANK FORl HEATERS. APPLICATION FILED NOV. II, 1916- Patented Apr. l0
MOSTENER-TANK EQR HEATERS.
Specioaton of Letters Patent.
Patented Apr. im, 11.917..
Application filed November 11, 1916. Serial No. 130,751.
and State ot illinois, have invented certain new and usefull improvements in Moistener- Tanks for Heaters, civ which the following is a speeication. A
My invention relates to an improvement in moistener-tanks `for heaters, the present invention being particularly applicable to a type of heater used for ripening bananas, and for which i have made application for Letters Patent, tiled iria-y 22, i916, Serial re. 99,183.
The present invention is constructed and adapted, in tact of a torni, to tit the chimney of that heater, it being arranged to coinmunicate with the outlet throat of the heater, through which the natural suction' draws and discharges the Vapor from the tank where it has been heated by intimate Contact with the banana-heater chimney.
This invention consists in a tank round cd and open the top to lit the chimney ot the banana-heater, with which it is made to communicate, and provided with means at top and bottom for removably attaching' it to said chimney.
in the accompanying drawings- Figure l is a riew in perspective o t the upper end of the banana-heater chimney, showing my improved moistener-tank attached;
f2 is a View showing the orifice or perforations in the curved elbow at the throat oit the banana-heater chimney;
Fig. 8 is a View in side elevation; and
Fig. Jiis a Vertical sectional View.
Si, is the tank, it being` made in any suitable dimensions, preferably more or less Hat vertically, with a. rounded open upperend, whereby to iit the peculiar elbow formation E at the upper end ot the banana-heater chimney, and, in the inner curve of the el- Copies of this patent may be obtained for communicates with the upper end of the chimney ci the heater when in place.
v"fi/ire hooks i) are termed at the lower inner corners ci' the tank to enter holes B provided therefor in the chimney. A bail B pivoted at the top is constructed to swing over and around the elbow E to embrace the latter and cause the tank to snugly hug' the curvature and space formed within the elbow, as shouf'n in the dran/ings.
rllus the tank is held for a considerable distance in close and intimate contact With the upper end oit the chimney, so that Water therein becomes heated by the ascending currents ol? hot air, and as they pass out through the elbow E, and over the perforations C, it creates a suction of the Vapor from the tank, Which .is disclarged out into the room., thus distriiuiting` itseiit and moistening` the entire atmosphere ot the room. The tank is easily removed, but Will not eeoinly accidentaliy displaced, owing to its V nstructien a, '-.escribed At the saine time, most effectual, in performing' its tuneon to cause a distribution of inoistencd air .i the heater.
l. )i meiste er-lauk open at the top and ilirorided with hooks on .its inner surface tor attachment to a support, and having a hinged bail which strings around said support. whereby to removably hold the tank close to its support.
E2. rihe combination With a heater chimney haring' a curved discharge elbou7 at the top, jwith periorations or oriiices on the inner curiature thereof, or". a tank fitted to said curvature and having` an open upper end, whereby it communicates with the interior of the chimney adjacent to its discharge, and means for removably fastening and bindin said tank to the chimney.
ln testimony whereof l a'liiX my signature.
