Description
. UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
EMIL OSSE, F BERLIN-LANKWITZ, AND WILHELM GENSECKE, OF BERLIN, GERMANY, ASSIGNORS TO GESELLSCHAFT FR KLTEINDUSTRIE MIT BESCHRNKTER HAF- TUNG, 0F BERLIN,
GERMANY, A CORPORATION F GERMANY.
DEVICE FOR COl\1'.`l')}3JNS:ENGrl AND VACUUM-PRODUCING.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Dee. `12, 1916.z
Application filed .Tuly 9, 1915. Serial No. 38,975.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, EMIL JOSSE and VVTLI-IELM Gnwsnclin, both citizens of the Empire of Germany, and residents, respectively, of Berlin-Lankwitz and of Berlin` Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Devices for Condensing and VacuumRroducing, 'of which the following is a specification.
The object of the prosentinveiition is to provide an improved device :for condensing and vacuum producing` The invention has reference to such devices in which air and vapor are withdrawn by or with the aid of vater supplied under pressure through a jet ejector arranged to deliver the water with the withdrawn air into a circulating tank or system from which the air can escape.
-According to the invention besides the air and uncondensed vapor the water of condensation is Withdrawn by -a jet ejector of a; circulating'1 system. To `ain good results the Water of the circulating system must bc cooled. 'Xccording'to our invcntionth'is is done by using the condensing water as cooling medium.
The accompanying drawingr shows more 0r less diagrammatically an embodiment ot the intention.
a is a surface condenser. Zi is a jot ejector, connected to the air. vapor and condensate outlet' from thev condenser. The jot ejector' discharges air and water through-a discharge-pipe o direct into the circulating tank (l, so that upon the fatcr and ai'r being discharged into the tank. the air will risc and' be liberated at the top as `shown by tho arrows in the drawing. Thel circuli-itineY tank fl is provided with an orcrllou' y).
f is a. *circulatingf pump for withdrawina water .from the tank (l and delivering it into the jet'cjcrtor l) so that' water is cauzcd to circulate continuously throufgh the jot o icctor l) and the tained. The pipe -for dclivcriug' cooling,r water into the condenser n caters the taule/l whcrc the pipo is 'tormcd into a coil 71,. ihc cooling'watcr lcarcs the condenser n. bythe tube i. l
Various nnxlilications in thc form shown and described may lic made within thcscopc of` the claims without dep'arting f-r'oufthc spirit of our invention.
What wecl'aim as our invcntimraud dosii'e to secure United States Letters Patpressure means and arranged to 'Withdraw air and condensate siuu'dtaneously from said condenser through a single discharge opening and an open tank in said Wat-er oirculating system whereby air is permitted to pass oiln and a surface of evapora-tion is provvided.
2. ln a condensing plant the combination of a surface condenser. ci'iolingr means for said. condenser. a water circulation system iiuiependent ot' .the cooling` means, pressure menus for maintaining? said circulation. the said cooling' lucano being' disposed to cool the water in sun irculation System. producingr means' in said water circula-tion Sy?- tcm adjacent to and actuated by Said pressure means and arranged to withdraw air and condensate simultaneously from said condenser through a single discharge opening. an open ieaorroir in the circulation syS- tem to .rccc're the discharge products of the jet. l
3. In a condensing" plant the combination of a surface condenser, cooling means 'for Said cmidcnscr. a water circulation independent ot thc cooling' means. a pressure punip to maintain said circulation. jet prin duringr moans in said water circulation :grstcni adjacentto and artuatcd hy said pressure pump and arranged to withdraw air and condensate aiuiuli'ancouslv troni 4said condenser through a .winnie discharge opel ingr` and an open rcforvnir in the circulztin sys-tcm to receive thi` discharge products ot' tlnz jci. thc coolingr inrans being' disposed to cool thc contcnts of said reservoir.
l. ln a windowing: plant thc combination.
of' a surface ruudruscr. cooling moans inclndiugY a pipa` section for 'said condenser. a water circulation sjvstcin iiuhpciulent ot the coolingr nicnas. a pressure pump in said cir- 'culatiou system. Vict producingr incans in said 'water circulation lvst'cin actuated by Said ,pump and .-u'rantrril to withdraw air and condcnaatc simultaneously t'rorn said condenser through a single discharge opening,
a surface condenser, cooling means for.
and an open reservoir in the circulation system to receive the air and condensate removed by the jet, the pipe section of said cooling Ineens' passing through said reservoir. l
5. In a condensing plant the combination of n surface condenser, a circulating cooling system for said condenser, a second circulating system entirely independent of the cooling system, a pressure pump and a jet actuated thereby in said second system, a single pipe connection from a point beneath the Water level of the condenser to said jet through which all air end condensate must pass when drawn from the condenser', and 15 an open reservoir in Said second circulating system, said cooling system passing through said reservoir.
In testimony whereof, we have hereunto set oui hands.
