When braking, the rider grips the brake lever, pulling the hydraulic hose. This draws hydraulic fluid from the brake lever to the brake caliper, which in turn activates the brakes, generating the braking action. Therefore, to maintain good braking force, regular disc brake fluid replacement is crucial.

The first knob valve 231 controls the flow of oil between the oil-conducting space 232 and the oil-conducting tube 230.
