하드디스크 드라이브의 액츄에이터 고정장치

본 발명은 하드디스크 드라이브(HDD:Hard Disk Drive, 이하 "HDD" 라 한다)에 관한 것으로 특히 액츄에이터의 고정장치에 관한 것이다.
휴대용 컴퓨터(portable computer)가 보편화되어 가면서 HDD가 외부로부터 받는 충격은 점점 커져가는 추세이다. 또한 HDD의 기록매체의 기록 밀도가 높아짐에 따라 헤드(head) 비행높이(flying height)는 점점 낮아져 지금은 거의 반접촉(semi-contact)의 수준에 까지 이르렀다. 따라서 기록매체면의 택스처링(texturing)이 더욱 미세해지고 연마높이(glide height)도 매우 낮아 스틱션(stiction) 방지를 위해 파킹 영역(parking zone)에서는 좀더 거친 택스처링(texturing)으로 CSS 성능을 확보하려는 노력도 있다. 이러한 경우 헤드(head)가 비동작시의 충격에 의해 파킹영역(parking zone)을 벗어나 데이타 영역(data zone)에 놓여지게 되면 스틱션(stiction)이 발생할 가능성이 높아진다.
위와 같은 이유로 고정장치의 성능에 대한 요구는 점점 커지는 경향이고 자석 고정장치는 그 특성상, 고정하는 힘(latching force)을 일정한 수준에서 조절해야 하기 때문에 앞으로의 추세에는 적합하지 않다.
또한 전자기장을 이용한 쌍안경(bi-stable) 래치(latch)도 여러가지로 고안된 것이 있으나(예를 들면 미국 특허 제5231556호와 제5208713호 등) 이것들도 기본원리는 자석을 이용한 마그네틱래치(magnetic latch)와 동일하다.
따라서 본 발명의 목적은 전자석과 탄성체의 조합으로 래치(latch)시와 언래치(unlatch) 상태를 유지하며 비동작시의 충격에 의한 액츄에이터(actuator)의 움직임을 방지하는 하드디스크 드라이브의 액츄에이터 고정장치를 제공하는데 있다.
상기와 같은 목적에 따라 본 발명은 철심 주위에 구리선을 감은 전자석과, 자석이 아닌 철편을 부착한 레버와, 액츄에이터(actuator)의 행정을 제한하고 상기 레버의 처짐에 의한 오동작을 방지하도록 스토퍼와, 상기 스토퍼를 갖춘 자물쇠베이스와, 그리고 상기 레버에 바이어스(bias)를 주는 탄성체로 구성되어, 상기 액츄에이터의 운동방향과 수직인 방향으로 동작되는 것을 특징으로 한다.
이하 본 발명의 바람직한 실시예가 첨부된 도면과 함께 상세히 설명될 것이다.
도면들 중 동일한 부품들은 가능한한 어느 곳에서든지 동일한 부호들을 나타내고 있음을 유의하여야 한다.
본 발명에 따른 하드디스크 드라이브의 액츄에이터 고정장치는, 제1도에 도시한 바와 같이, 데이타를 저장하고 복원할 수 있는 기능을 지닌 히드디스크 드라이브에 있어서 데이타를 자기기록 방식에 의해서 저장하는 기록매체(16)(Madia)와, 데이타(Data)를 기록매체(16)를 저장하고 복원하는 적어도 1개 이상의 헤드(22)(Head)와, 헤드(22)를 상기 기록매체(16) 상의 원하는 트랙에 위치시키며 걸쇠(24)를 갖춘 액츄에이터(20)(Actuator)와, 기록매체(16)를 일정속도로 회전시키는 스핀들모터(14)(spindle Motor)와, 그리고 액츄에이터(20)를 피벗베어링(18)을 중심으로 회전시키기 위한 보이스코일모터를 구비하고 있다. 액츄에이터(20)의 걸쇠(24)는 걸쇠내측면(28)과 걸쇠외측면(26)을 가진다. 걸쇠외측면(26)는 경사지거나 라운드지게 형성한다.
또한 비동작시 액츄에이터의 걸쇠(24)를 미리 정한 위치에 잡아두기 위한 자물쇠조립체(23)는, 제2도 내지 제4도에 도시한 바와 같이, 비동작시 액츄에이터(20)의 걸쇠(24)를 잡아주기 위한 레버(40)와, 레버(40)를 회전되게 고정하는 피벗핀(52)과, 레버(40)를 걸쇠(24)를 잡아주는 방향으로 바이어스(bias)를 주는 탄성체(54)와, 피벗핀(52)을 중심으로 탄성체(54)에 의해 회전되는 정도를 제한하기 위한 스토퍼(36)와, 그리고 레버(40)를 탄성체(54)의 바이어스힘(bias force)에 대항하여 자력으로 잡아당기기 위한 전자석판(58)을 구비한다.
상기 전자석판(58)은 구리선(62)을 감기위한 철심(60)을 가진다. 상기 레버(40)는 자력에 의해 철심(60)에 붙는 철편(41)을 가진다. 상기 레버(40)는 액츄에이터(20)의 걸쇠(24)를 위에서 아래방향으로 걸기 위한 갈고리(42)를 가진다. 갈고리(42)는 액츄에이터(20)의 걸쇠(24)와 접촉되는 갈고리내측면(46)과 걸쇠(24)와 서로 미끄러지게 하여 걸쇠(24)를 갈고리(42)에 쉽게 걸리게 하기 위하여 경사지게 하거나 라운드로 형성한 갈고리외측면(44)을 가진다. 또한 레버(40)는 탄성체(54)를 걸어놓기 위한 돌기(50)를 가진다. 레버(40)는 피벗핀(52)을 조립하기 위한 피벗핀조립구멍을 관통되게 가진다.
또한 피벗핀(52)과, 탄성체(54)의 한쪽을 설치하는 받침(34)과, 스토퍼(36)와, 그리고 전자석판(58)을 설치하기 위한 자물쇠베이스(32)(locking base)는 니은자(ㄴ)의 형상이며, HDD(10)의 베이스(12)의 미리 정한 위치에 나사로 고정된다. 자물쇠조립체(30)는 피벗핀(52)을 조립하기 위한 비벗핀조립구멍을 관통되게 가진다.
상술한 바와같이 형성된 본 발명에 따른 HDD(10)의 액츄에이터 고정장치는, 자물쇠베이스(32)를 HDD(10)의 베이스(12)의 미리 정한 위치에 나사로 고정한다. 자물쇠베이스(32)와 스토퍼(36)는 한 몸체로 구성되어 있다.
레버(40)에는 철판을 설치한다. 철판을 갖춘 레버(40)를 고정구멍을 통해 자믈쇠베이스(32)에 조립한다. 탄성체(54)의 중앙은 피벗핀(52)에 끼우고, 탄성체(54)의 일단은 레버(40)의 돌기(50)에 걸치며, 탄성체(54)의 다른단은 자물쇠베이스(32)의 받침(34)에 걸쳐서 레버(40)가 피벗핀(52)을 중심으로 탄성체(54)에 의해 액츄에이터(20)의 걸쇠(24)를 잡을 수 있는 방향으로 회전되게 조립한다.
레버(40)에는 무게중심이 피벗핀(52)에 오도록 하기 위하여 평형추(56)(counter weight)를 설치한다. 이에따라 외부의 충격이나 외란에 의한 모멘트(moment) 발생을 최대한 방지할 수 있다. 따라서 적은 탄성체(54)의 힘으로도 충분히 체결력을 유지할 수 있다.
자물쇠베이스(32)의 상단에는 철심(60)을 갖춘 전자석판(58)을 나사로 고정한다. 철심(60)에는 구리선(62)을 감는다.
상술한 바와 같이 구성된 본 발명에 따른 액츄에이터 고정장치는, 제5도에 도시한 바와 같이, 전원 온(power on) 시에는 전자석판(58)의 자력에 의해 철심(60)에 레버(40)의 철판을 달라붙게 하여 레버(40)를 탄성체(54)의 힘에 대향되는 방향으로 잡아 당긴다. 이에 따라 액츄에이터(20)의 걸쇠(24)는 레버(40)의 갈고리(42)에서 풀려진다.
HDD(10)에 전원오프(power off) 시에는 스핀들모터(14)의 역기전력(back electromotive force)에 의하여 전자석판(58)의 철심(60)이 레버(40)를 잡아주고 있다가, 스핀들모터(14)가 완전히 멈추고 액츄에이터(20)가 파킹영역(parking zone)에 도달하면 레버(40)는 탄성체(54)의 탄력에 의해 피벗핀(52)을 중심으로 회전하여, 제6도에 도시한 바와 같이, 액츄에이터(20)의 걸쇠(24)를 잡아준다.
따라서 본 발명에 따른 HDD의 액츄에이터 고정장치는 전원온 시에는 레버(40)를 전자석판(58)으로 잡아 당겨 액츄에이터(20)를 풀어주고, 전원오프 시에는 탄성체(54)의 탄성력에 의해 레버(40)가 회전하여 액츄에이터(20)를 잡아준다.
이상에서 살펴본 바와 같은 본 발명은, HDD에 있어서 전자석과 탄성체를 조합한 고정장치를 이용하기 때문에 체결력이 강한 효과가 있다.

Claims (5)

  1. 철심(60) 주위에 구리선(2)을 감은 전자석판(58)과, 자석이 아닌 철편(41)을 부착한 레버(40)와, 액츄에이터(20)(actuator)의 행정을 제한하고 상기 레버(40)의 처짐에 의한 오동작을 방지하도록 된 스토퍼(36)와, 상기 스토퍼(36)을 갖춘 자물쇠베이스(32)와, 상기 레버(40)에 바이어스(bias)를 주는 탄성체(54)와, 그리고 탄성체(54)와 레버(40)를 조립하기 위한 피벗핀(52)을 구성하여, 상기 액츄에이터(20)의 운동방향과 수직인 방향으로 동작되는 것을 특징으로 하는 하드디스크 드라이브의 액츄에이터 고정장치.
  2. 데이타를 저장하고 복원할 수 있는 기능을 지닌 하드디스크 드라이브에 있어서, 데이타를 자기기록 방식에 의해서 저장하는 기록매체(16)(Media)와, 상기 데이타(Data)를 상기 기록매체(16)에 저장하고 복원하는 적어도 1개 이상의 헤드(22)(Head)와, 상기 헤드(22)를 상기 기록매체(16)상의 원하는 트랙에 위치시키며 걸쇠(24)를 갖춘 것을 액츄에이터(20)(Actuator)와, 상기 기록매체(16)를 일정속도로 회전시키는 스핀들모터(14)(spindlee Motor)와, 철심(60) 주위에 구리선(62)을 감은 전자석판(58)과, 자석이 아닌 철편(41)을 부착한 레버(40)와, 액츄에이터(20)의 행정을 제한하고 상기 레버(40)의 처짐에 의한 오동작을 방지하도록 된 스토퍼(36)와, 상기 스토퍼(36)를 갖춘 자물쇠베이스(32)와, 상기 레버(40)에 바이어스(bias)를 주는 탄성체(54)와, 그리고 레버(40)와 탄성체(54)를 조립하기 위한 피벗핀(52)을 구비하여, 전원오프(power off)시 상기 스핀들모터(14)에 의해 발생되는 역기전력(back electromotive force)을 상기 구리선(62)에 인가하여 상기 액츄에이터(20)가 미리 정한 위치에 이를 때까지 상기 레버(40)를 전자석화 된 상기 철심(60)에 달라붙게 하는 것을 특징으로 하는 하드디스크 드라이브의 액츄에이터 고정장치.
  3. 제2항에 있어서, 상기 레버(40)는 외부의 충격이나 외란에 의한 모멘트(moment)발생을 줄이기 위하여 평형추(56)(counter weight)를 가짐을 특징으로하는 하드디스크 드라이브의 액츄에이터 고정장치.
  4. 제2항에 있어서, 상기 탄성체(54)는 상기 레버(40)를 상기 피벗핀(52)을 중심으로 상기 액츄에이터(20)의 걸쇠(24)를 잡는 방향으로 회전시키도록 작용하는 스프링임을 특징으로 하는 하드디스크 드라이브의 액츄에이터 고정장치.
  5. 제2항에 있어서, 상기 레버(40)는 액츄에이터(20)의 걸쇠(24)에 걸리는 갈고리(42)를 가짐을 특징으로 하는 하드디스크 드라이브의 액츄에이터 고정장치.
