Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve a flicker characteristic and to sharpen a display image by using mixed films consisting of soluble polyimide and polyamic acid for oriented films. CONSTITUTION:This element consists of glass substrates 9, 1, ITO electrodes 2, 8, the oriented films 3, 4, a sealing resin 5, a spacer 6 and a liquid crystal 7. The mixed films consisting of the soluble polyimide and the polyamic acid are used as the oriented films 3, 4. The polyamic acid remains in the films and the accumulation of electric charge at the boundary faces of the liquid crystal and the oriented films arises hardly; in addition, the oriented films 3, 4 prevent the contamination of the liquid crystal by trace impurities and moisture, etc., or the impurities are adsorbed on the surface of the oriented films 3, 4. The liquid crystal display element having a high contrast, good display quality of the image and excellent reliability is thereby obtd.
