Abstract
【解決手段】本発明は、駆動トランジスタ5、画素電極6および配向膜が形成される駆動側基板1と、対向電極および配向膜が形成される対向側基板2と、駆動側基板1の画素電極6と対向側基板2の対向電極との間に封入される液晶4と、駆動側基板1における駆動トランジスタ5と画素電極6との間に形成される反射型無機偏光子3とを備える液晶表示装置である。また、この液晶表示装置を適用した投射型表示装置でもある。

Claims (6)
- 駆動トランジスタ、画素電極および配向膜が形成される駆動側基板と、
対向電極および配向膜が形成される対向側基板と、
前記駆動側基板の画素電極と前記対向側基板の対向電極との間に封入される液晶と、
前記駆動側基板における前記駆動トランジスタと前記画素電極との間に形成される反射型無機偏光子と
を備えることを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 前記対向側基板に入射側の反射型無機偏光子を備える
ことを特徴とする請求項1記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記入射側の反射型無機偏光子を前記対向側基板の前記液晶側に配置する
ことを特徴とする請求項2記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記反射型無機偏光子の一部と前記駆動トランジスタに対する遮光膜とが兼用となっている
ことを特徴とする請求項1記載の液晶表示装置。 - 光源と、前記光源から出射された光を液晶表示装置に導く集光光学系と、前記液晶表示装置で光変調した光を拡大して投射する投射光学系とを有し、前記液晶表示装置として、液晶を配向させるための配向膜が対面するようにして駆動側基板と対向側基板とが平行に位置されており、前記駆動側基板と対向側基板との間に液晶を充填して密封して成るものであって、
前記液晶表示装置において、前記駆動側基板には、前記液晶を駆動するための駆動トランジスタと画素電極とが設けられ、その駆動トランジスタと画素電極との間に反射型無機偏光子が形成されている
ことを特徴とする投射型表示装置。 - 光源と、前記光源から出射された光を複数の色光に分離し、各色光に対応した複数の液晶表示装置に導く集光光学系と、前記液晶表示装置で光変調した光を拡大して投射する投射光学系とを有し、前記液晶表示装置として、液晶を配向させるための配向膜が対面するようにして駆動側基板と対向側基板とが平行に位置されており、前記駆動側基板と対向側基板との間に液晶を充填して密封して成るものであって、
前記複数の液晶表示装置の各々において、前記駆動側基板には、前記液晶を駆動するための駆動トランジスタと画素電極とが設けられ、その駆動トランジスタと画素電極との間に反射型無機偏光子が形成されている
ことを特徴とする投射型表示装置。
