Process for pre-cutting diaphragm walls 12 to obtain linear excavation trenches in soil with boulders, rocks, etc., providing in succession: - the excavation of two shafts 14 at the ends of the trench which is to be constructed, the said shafts 14 having a depth which is greater than the lower excavated limit 30 of the said trench, - fitting and positioning corresponding screens 11 comprising trucks 15 which move longitudinally with respect to screens 11 in said shafts 14, the said trucks 15 each comprising a pair of return wheels 20, - adjustment of the positions of the grooves of return wheels 20 to the width of diaphragm wall 12 and adjustment of two closed cutting cable rings 21 which are kept under tension, - coordinated descent of the two trucks 15 with consequential coordinated descent of at least two lower parallel sections of cutting cable 21 down to the bottom limit of excavation 30, - recovery of screens 11, - making the trench using normal buckets.
