Abstract
The invention comprises 1:1:2 - tri - (1-cyanoethyl) hydrazine of the formula <FORM:0810403/IV (b)/1> which is prepared by reacting one mol. of hydrazine with at least three mols. of lactonitrile at a temperature of from 0 DEG to 100 DEG C.ALSO:A nematocidal composition comprises 1 : 1 : 2-tri-(l-cyanoethyl) hydrazine and an inert liquid or solid carrier. Solid carriers are fuller's earth, talc, pyrophyllite and diatomaceous earth. Liquid carriers are aerosol sprays or water-immiscible organic solvents, such as benzene or kerosene. The latter solutions may be stirred into water, preferably in presence of a wetting agent, e.g. sodium dioctyl sulphosuccinate or alkylaryl polyether alcohols. The composition may be used in conjunction with soil-conditioning and fertilizing materials.
