Abstract

A gardening tool provides a modular assembly long handle-stemmed gardening/ground-working tool that comprises a handle1and handle stem2and a tool head5, the handle stem2of the tool accommodating there within a damper/ shock absorber3which is operable to absorb the shock of impact of the tool head5against solid objects. The tool head5may be demountable from the handle stem2. The head5may couple to the handle stem2by a mounting on one of the tool head5and the handle stem2that comprises a rod upstanding within a sleeve, the other of the tool head5and the handle stem2having a socket that receives the rod and fits within the sleeve. The damper may comprise a longitudinally resilient compressible elastomeric tube which may be formed in a concertina fashion from a length of radiator/coolant hose. Also disclosed is a long-stemmed tool wherein a tool head couples to a handle stein by a mounting on one of the tool head and the handle stem that comprised a rod upstanding within a sleeve and the other of the tool head and the handle having a socket that receives the rod and fits within the sleeve. Also disclosed is a long-stemmed tool having a tool head with an upstanding rod which couples to socket on a handle stem, the tool head being secured by a pivoting latch.
