Abstract

A finger guard, that protects fingers from being caught in the hinged door gap, comprises one piece of cardboard bent into four parts and attached to the hinged door-frame by a 2-way sticker on one end and to the hinged door by a 2-way sticker on the other end. The cardboard is bent into four parts and opens and closes in a 'concertina-like' effect. The guard can be attached and removed when not needed by a house-holder/occupant. <IMAGE>

Description

HINGED DCCR FINGER GUARD Tnis invention relates to a finger guard or guards attached able tc hinged doors.
The gap between hinged doors and door frames close when the door closes, and fingers can be trapped in the gap.
This guard could be a safety device particularly for children and blind people and could protect fingers from being caught in the hinged door gap by pushing the hand away froin the doer as it closes The householder/occupant can stick the guard onto the hinged d.or-frame and door, and the guard could be removed when not needed, without damaging the door or frame. Instructions for use by way of writing and ~r directional arrows could be given with or on the guard.
Accidents to fingers could be prevented by using one or mere of these guards. It would be possible to have two finger guards on one hinged dcor if, fer exam#le, an adult or taller person needs this, or just one guard per hinged door.
Acc~rding to the present invention there is provided a finger guard comprising one piece of cardboard bent into four parts, which opens and closes with the hinged door in a concertina-like effect. It is up to 1 metre in size and has tw@ 2-way sealed stickers on each end.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the sccompanying drawing in which: Figure 1 shows the right scale of finger guard when it is folded; Figure 2 shows 2 scale how the finger guard is stuck one end to the hinged door frame and one end to the door Figure 3 shows hew the finger proteetor opens out when the hinged door opens; Figure 4 shows how far the finger protector opens out approximately 1200 Diameter; Figure 5 shows the right scale of finger guard when it is fully opened, all of non-absorbant cardboard with powerful sticky tape on the end bends on one side and on the middle bend the other side.
No. 1 of Figure 5 is the two sided sealed sticker on the cardboard which when the seal is removed will stick to the door-frame.
No. 2 of Figure 5 is non-absorbant cardboard which it would be possible to paint the same colour as the door an /or frame No. 3 of Figure 5 is the powerful sticky tape which will stop the cardboard from breaking when in continaal use i.e.
bending each time the door is opened and closed.
The finger guard is always fitted with hinged door closed first and the sticky seal then removed from the end as illustrated in Figure 5 No. 1.
The finger guard is fitted l0mm from the floor.
