Abstract

A device for the swivelling of a rotary plough about its axis of rotation comprises a double acting hydraulic cylinder 1 adapted to be pivotally mounted on an axle forming part of a vehicle, a piston 2 in the cylinder connected to a piston rod 3 hingedly connectable to a ploughshare carrier, a control valve 10 for causing a change of direction in the movement of the piston rod by supplying hydraulic fluid to one or other side of the piston, the control valve being controllable directly or indirectly by the piston in such a way that the piston rod is moved into and out of the hydraulic cylinder during a swivelling operation, and a non-return valve 8, 9, controllable directly or indirectly by the piston in such a way that the pressure space remaining between the piston and the end of the cylinder is pressureless immediately before and after the change in direction of movement of the piston rod during a swivelling operation. As shown, the piston 2 carries a pin 4 which is a loose fit in a bore 5 in the hydraulic cylinder, the pin actuating the control valve 10 and the non-return valves 8, 9. <IMAGE>
