Abstract
An arc welding electrode for welding steel, particularly for underwater use, has a coating containing at least one oxidizing agent, for neutralizing the embrittling effect of nascent hydrogen, and its core contains at least one constituent, e.g. aluminium oxide, aluminium and nitrogen, or copper, which leads to the formation of hardening components in the weld deposit.
