Abstract

A colour display tube in which, in order to overcome the problem of irregular light reflection from an aluminium film adhering to the phosphor lines of the display screen, the aluminium film (13) of the display screen adheres mainly to the light-absorbing coating (17) disposed between adjacent phosphor lines (14, 15, 16), which coating (17) is at least 3 mu m thicker than the phosphor lines. The light-absorbing coating (17) typically comprises grains, 50% by weight of the said grains preferably having a diameter exceeding 15 mu m. <IMAGE>
