Abstract

1501691 Bearings ROY E ROTH CO 6 March 1975 [29 April 1974] 9411/75 Heading F2A [Also in Division F4] A sensor for detecting wear in the bearings 72, 74, Fig. 1 (not shown), of an electric motorpump comprises a conductive ring 174 surrounding the motor shaft 62 and engaged by a resiliently biased contact, excessive wear of the bearings leading to eccentric rotation of the shaft which causes the shaft to contact the ring 174 and so complete a protective electrical circuit connected to the shaft and contact. The resiliently biased contact comprises a spring 192 engaging a terminal rod 180. The protective circuit de-energizes the motor in the event of excessive bearing wear.
