Abstract

1444058 Recovery of arsenious oxide from solution CAPPER PASS Ltd 20 March 1975 [22 May 1974] 22921/74 Heading C1A Arsenic III oxide is recovered from sulphuric acid solutions containing other dissolved metals by reduction of arsenic in the pentavalent state to the trivalent state using sulphur dioxide under superatmospheric pressure at from 100‹ to 150‹ C., preferably 125‹ C.; the molar ratio of sulphur dioxide to pentavalent arsenic lies between 1À05 and 1À30 and preferably approximately equal weights of sulphur dioxide and arsenic in the pentavalent state are employed. The other metallic elements in solution may be precipitated, as the hydrated sulphates before or after the reduction stage and both methods are exemplified.
