Abstract
1329029 Self-heating depilatory COLGATEPALMOLIVE CO 10 Dec 1970 [19 Dec 1969] 58691/70 Heading A5B A self-heating depilatory composition comprises two parts which are held separately until required for use when they are mixed to form a depilating composition with the evolution of heat from an exothermic chemical reaction. In particular, one part may contain thioglycolic acid and the other an alkali such as sodium hydroxide which reacts exothermically therewith to form a salt such as sodium thioglycollate. A surfactant, e.g. a triethanolamine alkyl sulphonate and additional depilating agents may also be present. Preferably, the two parts of the composition are packaged in a twocompartment "aerosol" container from which they are dispensed by a compressed gas, e.g. a 1:7 propane: isobutane mixture, as a foam.
