Abstract

1323002 Printing tickets SODECO SOC DES COMPTEURS DE GENEVE SA 4 May 1971 [11 May 1970] 12835/71 Heading G4T [Also in Division B6] A ticket cut from a web of ticket material at a first station is clamped against an outer, partcylindrical surface of a rotatable member mounted at the free end of a rotatable arm, and the arm and member are then rotated to cause the ticket to move in a hypocycloidal path from the cutting station and through successive printing stations to a discharge station. As shown (Fig. 2), the arm 8 rotatable about 9 carries the rotatable member in the form of a drum D. A pinion 39 fixed to the drum meshes through pinion 45 with a fixed toothed ring 40, the gear ratios being such that the ticket moves hypocycloidally. Ticket material 42 (Fig. 3), entering the cutting station, trips an arm 20 to stop further feeding of the material. A gripper 22 grips the leading ticket end against a platen 21, mounted on the drum D. As the drum rotates, a guide 32 presses the remainder of the ticket against the platen until finally the trailing ticket end is gripped by a gripper 23. Grippers 22, 23 and guide 32 are moved to and from their operative positions at appropriate times by axially-reciprocatable, shaped, cam rods 28, 36, whose lower ends co-operate with a fixed cam ring 41 (Fig. 2). The printing stations (not shown) are arranged in a part-circular array (Fig. 1) and their printing surfaces are inked immediately before passage of the ticket. For this purpose, a frame 46 pivoted at A carries an inking roller 48 fast with a pinion 49, driven by the pinion 39 via a pinion 50. A pre-inked roller 51 is spring-urged towards roller 48, the spring force being adjustable at 60. A spring 63 pivots the frame 46 about A to urge the roller 48 against the printing surfaces. A camway 67 coacts with a lug 66 to pivot the frame against the action of spring 63 at selected locations, where no printing (and consequently no inking of the printing surfaces) is required.
