Abstract

1318171 Toy vehicle tracks MATTELL Inc 1 Jan 1971 [25 Aug 1970] 68/71 Heading A6S A track used with toy wheeled vehicles has a series of grooves extending therealong, the sides, e.g. ridges 20, being less than one hundredth the width of the track so that, when a vehicle is subjected to a lateral force, it can. climb stably over the sides to an adjacent groove while the sides also reduce the tendency of the vehicle to wander to different sides of the track. In use, if a vehicle 16A approaches from behind a slower vehicle 16B, they collide and, as shown, the slower vehicle veers to the left and the faster to the right so that the faster vehicle can overtake the slower. The track may be of an extruded, flexible plastics and may include banked sections connected by tongues engaging brackets 32 with straight sections. The groove sides may be more steeply inclined on one side than the other. Details are given of the radius of track width to the height of the ridges 20 and the radius of the vehicles wheels.
