Abstract

1380470 Bobbin transporter; winding machines BARMAG BARMER MASCHINENFABRIK AG 12 May 1972 [13 May 1971] 22296/72 Heading D1F [Also in Division E2] A bobbin-transporting assembly 1 designed to travel on a predetermined path along the front of a multiple station textile machine 15 e.g. a winding machine, for bringing in bobbins and/or carrying away completed packages, comprises means 2 for receiving the bobbins or packages which are geometrically associated with one another in the same way as the winding stations of the machine. The assembly 1 is preferably in the form of a vertical frame extending over the length of the machine, the frame being made up of members 6 releasably coupled together at 7. The means 2 may be in the form of channels or channel sections, hooks or rods. The assembly 1 travels in or on rails which may be mounted on the floor or overhead. In a particular embodiment, the assembly 1 travels in the same rails as a travelling pneumatic cleaner, and is propelled by means of a motorised trolley. In one particular embodiment, completed packages 3 are transferred from the winding machine 15 to the assembly 1 by means of an automatic doffer 16 which travels between the machine and the assembly. Each member 6 of the assembly 1 is positioned within a carriage 23 which automatically moves transversely to the longitudinal direction of the assembly 1 by a distance equal to the spacing between receiving rails 31 when a member 6 actuates a switch 32 associated with each rail. The releasable couplings between the members 6 is such that the transverse movement uncouples the members. The assembly 1 may be moved stepwise by means of friction wheel drive 33 actuated by cam switches 35 on the carriage 23. The automatic doffer 16 may be provided with tiered chutes to maintain the relative positioning of the completed packages from the winding station to the assembly 1. The packages and winding stations are preferably coded to enable quality control tests to be carried out automatically on selected packages, the results being tabulated and if necessary, the relevant winding station adjusted accordingly.
