Abstract

1378060 Photo-electric testing TAKEDA YAKUHIN KOGYO K K 21 Dec 1972 [22 Dec 1971] 59154/72 Headings G1A and G1X An apparatus for the inspection of ampoules comprises a plurality of pairs of freely rotatable holders, 22, 23, Fig. 1, each pair consisting of mutually aligned upper and lower holders each holder having inwardly tapering portions in to and by which shoulder or bottom portions of an ampoule "A" are inserted and held, transportation means for carrying the holders positioned in alignment in succession around a set path, guide means comprising rotary cams 32 and rollers 30 for moving the upper holders up and down in such a manner that during a first stage of movement of the transportation means each upper holder is raised with respect to the lower holder to permit an ampoule to be placed by conveyor 10 and notched wheel 13 between the holders, during a second stage in said movement the upper holder is lowered to a position in which the ampoule is held between the holders in which condition the ampoule is carried past a stationary inspection point, and during the last stage of said movement the upper holder is raised again to permit the ampoule to be removed from between the holders, and the apparatus further comprises a driving belt 35 for rotating one or both of the upper and lower holders prior to said inspection point so that the liquid in the ampoule continues to move, as do also any glass fragments or other foreign bodies that may be contained therein, at the inspection point, and a source of light 37 for illuminating an ampoule at the inspection point so that any fragments or other foreign bodies that may be contained therein may be detected. The ampoules so illuminated may be inspected visually or photo-electrically by a television camera T and a jet nozzle 48 accordingly controlled to separate defective ampoules.
