Abstract
1378040 Precipitating cobalt from solution SHERRITT GORDON MINES Ltd 6 Oct 1972 [2 Dec 1971] 46347/72 Heading C7D Cobalt powder is recovered from aqueous ammonaical solutions of cobalt salts by reacting with hydrogen at above 90‹C and under pressure, in the presence of at least 0.001 moles/litre of thioaceramide, thioacetamilide or an alkali metal salt of thioacetic acid. The process is particularly applicable to the treatment of solutions containing 200 to 500 gms/litre of ammonium sulphate, with hydrogen at 120 to 200‹C and 7 to 30 kg/sq. cm pressure. Organic promoters, e.g. gum arabic, dextrin, dextrose, alizarin or acrylamide polymer hydrolytes, may be incorporated in the solutions.
