Abstract

136.007. Mumford, J. A. Jan. 20, 1919. Piling yarns and fabrics in rope form.-Textile or other materials in rope form are plaited down by a funnel which is swung backwards and forwards and also rocked crosswise, the axes of both movements being practically on the same level. The funnel C is tapered and may be of any section and made of wood, enamel, &c. It is hung in a fork or ring BA by bearing-pins BP, the fork being mounted on a rock-shaft R<3> driven from the driving-pulley DP through a worm shaft WS, worm W, wormwheel WW, adjustable connecting-links and arms E<2>, E<1>, A<0>, A<01>, and the shaft R<1>. The funnel is thus given a slow crosswise motion. The two- and-fro motion is given through the crank-disk D<2>, rod E<3>, arms A<2>, A<3> on rock-shaft R<2>, and a universally-mounted rod E<4> connected to a part C<2> of the casing C' of the funnel. The driving- gear may be arranged to work a pair of funnels, one on each side, and further funnels may be rocked from the shaft R<1> and have the backward and forward motion imparted to them by connexion to the first-mentioned funnels.
