Abstract

1,219,760. Sewing-machines. WOOD BASTOW & CO. Ltd. 20 Dec., 1968 [30 Dec., 1967], No. 59287/67. Heading D1G. In a sewing machine an atomised spray of lubricant is provided by a nozzle 30 immediately in front of the needle to aid the passage of the needle through the fabric and to cool the needle. The spray is produced by passing compressed air through a venturi in an oil reservoir tank and when not in use the oil can be diverted back to a container and from there back to the reservoir. The spray can be varied according to fabric thickness and its application controlled by the same treadle as the machines motor.
