Abstract

1292350 Apparatus for observing the interior of an enclosure CENTRE NATIONAL DE RECHERCHES METALLURGIQUES 28 Sept 1970 [14 Aug 1970] 46111/70 Heading G2J A probe for observing the interior of furnaces comprises a protective envelope (not shown) housing a light receiving apparatus comprising a zoom objective 5, a variable stop 4 for controlling the amount of light transmitted to the zoom objective and a reflector 2 moveable along a guide 19 into a position in which light entering the probe along the axis thereof is passed to a camera 1 and into a position in which light entering the probe perpendicular to the axis thereof is reflected along the axis to the camera. Light from the furnace passes through aligned quartz windows which may be provided with wiper mechanisms in the envelope and light receiving apparatus. Compressed air or other gas which cleans the windows and cools the various components of the probe may be circulated between the envelope and light receiving apparatus.
