Abstract
1288034 Thermally insulated pipes K K G DURR 2 Sept 1969 [3 Sept 1968] 41769/68 Headings F2P and F2X Heat insulation between a heat conducting wall and a second wall, spaced from the first, is provided by covering the surface of the first wall adjacent the second with a heat barrier layer and then setting an insulating foam material in situ between the barrier layer and the second wall. The foam material may be foamed in situ or introduced in a foamed condition. The first and second walls may be in the form of inner and outer coaxial pipes. The barrier layer may be of fibrous material, e.g. glass wool and may be impregnated or coated with phenolic resin before being applied to the first wall. The phenolic resin may be cured by the heat evolved during foaming and/or setting of the insulating material, which may be polyurethane. The fibrous material may not be applied to end portions of the inner pipe.
