Abstract
1,260,754. Hair curler. J. V. DROOGENBROECK. Feb.24, 1969 [Feb. 23, 1968], No.9769/69. Heading A4V. A hair curler for producing flat curls using a moistening vapour comprises a lower arm 2 with a cup-shaped member 6 at one end, the arm being pivotally connected to an upper arm 9 having a container 10 at one end, the container having a heating element 11, and holes 13 in its lower surface. In use a lock of hair is curled into the member 6, and held by an operator's finger. A slider 14 is positioned on the arm 9 and held against a spring 17 by abutment in a notch 26 in the arm 9. The slider carries pins 25 which hold the curl allowing the finger to be removed as the device is closed, by means of pressure, on a handle 1 attached to arm 2 and trigger 8 attached to arm 9, against a second spring 30. When the device is almost closed tongue 27 of slider 14 abuts a lug 28 on the arm 2 causing the slider to lift, releasing it from the notch and to be retracted, towards the handle 1, leaving the container free to enter the member 6. The heater 11 vapourizes the liquid previously introduced into the container 10 and it contacts the hair via holes 13, so setting the curl.
